I've never particularly liked the Nintendo Directs but I think they are alot better now. If it's only about one game then I know beforehand whether it is worth watching or not

Every single one is worth watching.

If you're interested in Nintendo content and understand german, maybe you want to take a look at my youtube channel! :)

After every single direct, people would bitch endlessly that a new metroid wasn't announced (and other ridiculous expectations) and there would be nothing but complaints because people set their expectations too high.

This is your fault, general forum users

That's weird. I like these way better. Almost all of last year's ND's sucked. The one's this year are more focused, and as such have been consistently good to amazing. The only boring one I can think of is the Japanese 3rd party ND. All the other ones have been awesome to me.

I prefer it really.

It puts greater emphasis on Nintendo announcing games when/where they make the most impact (conferences like E3).

The format of most multi-game directs really seemed to lack focus -- single game directs are thematically more fun

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Im sure you loved this year´s Nintendo E3. You can´t have both. Or announce the games on the Directs or on the E3.

So it seems that NDs entirely focussing on only one single game is the new trend, and I don't like it. Gone are the days where we had a Direct, all speculating on what we are going to see, being surprised by new game announcements. Now all we receive are dull small details about the games that they might as well leave for surprise for when we buy the game.

Have you and half of this thread's posters conviniently forgotten that Nintendo had a 3DS-focused Direct in Japan 5 days ago http://youtu.be/ghFEU4t_Pm8 and yet you and several others here seem to think that single-game direct's all they intend to do from now on (even though they've done game-specific directs for years now).

Honestly, we'll most like be bound for a general direct in December or January, where they'll talk about the 2015 lineup. You lot would be complaining (hell, you probably have in the past) about how we know about what most of what they shared and feel like it's a waste of time since at this point, it would just be release dates for games coming out this year when we're close to the end of 2014.

So wha would you prefer to do, OP? Complain about how directs that focus on multiple previously announced titles not having a wow factor and wasting our time... despite the notifications from Nintendo themselves saying they are about games we know about, but will be getting either release dates or release windows, or complain about how Nintendo would focus on single games consecutively and not talk about multiple games anymore... despite Japan getting a 3DS direct less than a week ago?

Have fun with your double-edged sword, I suppose. Truly a weapon of choice around here. Oh well, makes it easier to point out for users like me.

I actually agree with you! I don't care about Tamadochi, and yet I loved the Direct!

I think a ND dedicated to a single game is a great way to build hype around a game, hence build hype around the system. Ppl these days can't handle multiple ideas being thrown at them anyway. Nintendo is going for a safe approach to advertise their games in the end.

They haven't changed the formula since January. They always have a normal direct then a game direct.
