Forums - Nintendo - After the Wii U disaster, will you buy Nintendo's next console?

This surprisingly makes a lot of sense.... I still have reservations on the actual translation and meaning behind the Miyamoto contraversy, and would love for Miyamoto (with his talents of gaming World creation) to try his hand at making titles aimed directly towards the core audience of gamers. But I can see where you're coming from.

Miyamoto didn't criticise casuals or Wii owners. The interpretations of the clickbait articles were terrible.

The "pathetic"-comment came after he was asked about the complicated controls of his prototypes at E3 (many would call them casual games). He wants to make games where people can challenge themselves (to learn the new controls in this example). That isn't against the Wii, it's more against people that refused the Wii because of the non-traditional control sceme.

His criticism was more aiming against the passive attitude gamers that want cinematic experiences with little gameplay. It's no U-turn because Nintendo never made such games.

Lol, this is what I mean.... I don't trust articles. I could see people getting upset, but articles should be taken with a grain of salt.

I don't think it is time calling anything a disaster anyway until the end of the gen.

I'll buy Nintendo consoles until they don't make them anymore (which won't happen) and same with their handhelds

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015

Thanks for all the great memories!

come on, Miyamoto is such a big personality for the gaming industry!! he just needs another genius to co-work with and create more fresh ideas, instead of recycling the same

He don't need another genius. He need to leave, so other people can make new games for Nintendo.

I don't know, maybe, but wouldn't it be too risky? a big change

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Yes, but Nintendo need something new.

I love my Wii U. My only regret is purchasing it at launch when there weren't really any games I wanted badly, followed by a nearly year-long drought (with the exception of Lego City Undercover and Pikmin 3). I wish I had waited until WWHD was released, along with the Wii U price cut, with Super Mario 3D World following close behind.

I will get any future Nintendo system, handheld or console, but most likely not at launch. I waited until Ocarina of Time 3D came out to get my 3DS and I've never regretted that decision. In the future it will depend entirely on what games are available when. I will probably hold off until a 3D Zelda, 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros., or Xenoblade game are released. Add in a mainline Pokemon RPG on the handheld side as something that could get me to pull the trigger.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

I was done with console gaming after the 6th gen or so I thought. I thought it was going nowhere but down. After a couple of years I started to play on my sons X360. I needed the racing games. X360 had a few games I liked, Minecraft, Viking: Battle for Asgard, Katamari and racing games. As I became more interested again I made a list of games I was interested in: The list was
1. Wii - despite its weird controller and its lousy graphics it had games I wanted.
2. PS3 - because of variety of games.
3. X360 - good system (was already at my home) but was too much of a shooter box for my taste.

Will I buy the next one? Not automatically!

Whenever your software can be redownloaded from your NNID. If it can be shared between consoles or handhelds, it will be a plus

If these things come during this generation, the jump to digital and next gen would be much more easier.
