I haven't enjoyed a Nintendo console this much since the gamecube (which is my favorite console ever). I loved the Wii but the Wii U is so much better feature wise and the games actually feel like games instead of dumbed down products for the elderly. There is nothing wrong with the Wii U and a whole lot of RIGHT in my opinion.

If you bought a Wii u day 1 ( I did) or the 1st month or so after launch, it was defiantly a disaster - as far as a Nintendo is concerned it has been and still is a disaster because they have lost a lot of money ( and prob will continue to for a while longer ) due to the Wii u and how they have handled it. It is also a disaster due to a massive loss of market share -

Even though the Wii u situation appears to be improving, it has a ways to go. Nintendo lost credibility early on by announcing multiple big game delays post launch after the holiday sales season - they lost credibility due to trumpeting 3r party support but not following thru- they alienated many core and casual gamers - they had and continue to have long game droughts - the list goes on

Some on these boards may say they feel differently but to the typical consumer at best and to many long time fans at worst, they have lost credibility as far as what they comunicate to the market place -

Having said the above, I may or may not buy the next Nintendo home console for our household, but if I do it would be only after a strong and diverse library is in place - so it would probably be the 2nd Christmas on the market at earliest and 2.5 years or more on the latter side

There is a lot I like about Nintendo, it's games and consoles but I do not feel they gave thier best effort re the wiiu and they did not seem to acknowledge it ( via taking action to do something about it) till this last e3) and we have still only had 2 big releases over the 1st 8 months of this year

IMO it will be difficult ( although not impossible) for Nintendo to get early "buy in" for its next console - they will have to invest a massive amount on the front end and take far bigger/earlier risk than they are accustomed to doing In order to have a successful launch of their next console because most people, including many of their most ardent supporters will " wait and see" before committing.

I think it started badly, but it has been recovering quite well. I'm really enjoying the system and the games. I haven't been let down by Nintendo yet, so I'm willing to take the chance.

disaster? boy, nintendo haters are the worst.

The Wii U suffered for me after the Wii was my least favorite Nintendo console. I plan on getting a Wii U and if Nintendo treat the next system like the Wii U I will get it, but if they go back Wii style system I will likely pass on it.

I think the Wiiu is going to go down as a nice console. Nintendo got off to a slow start because it had been a long time since they had to adjust to a whole new level of graphics and has taken time to build up partnerships and their own teams as well. But it's looking better all the time. I'm always going to have  Nintendo console and a multiplat console. It gives you the best games library this way. I wouldn't call the wiiu a distaster. The first year was a disaster but it's gaining momemtum and looks like it will keep getting better in the years to come.

You are confusing Wii U sales with consumer satisfaction. The people that actually bought the console seem satisfied with the product.

Yeah because I love Nintendo games.
