Forums - Nintendo - Xenoblade (port?) _exclusive_ for new 3ds (no "old" 3ds)

I wonder if this would have pissed people more off if the system also came with higher resolution top and bottom screens, and allowed Xenoblade to run in a similar resolution to the Wii original with 60fps update and programmable shaders?

In contrast to a tiny upgrade like we get now, that is.

Personally (as a 3ds xl owner) i would have liked that more, because in that case I'd just definately buy it and feel happy about my new better toy! But like this, i'm not sure whether i really want to upgrade my system for some minor improvements or wait another couple of years for the next gen handheld, since there probably won't be too many 'new' 3DS games that the 'old' 3DS can't play.

Me too. However, i dont really mind since i'm thinking of getting the small version of New 3DS, provided it cost about $149, that is. Going for a tiny upgrade allows Nintendo to price the system low enough so that it becomes kind of a "whatever, its cheap, so i'll by it" attitude from the consumer.

Same, but I'm still kinda disappointed... I would have absolutely LOVED a Xenoblade port on my 3DS...

Oh well, let's hope it'll be available on the WiiU, wether it's a HD port or simply another Virtual Console game, in a few years...

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

Cash grab? Yes (And this is not trolling or flamming because I love Nintendo). But they know me. I'M FREAKING GETTING IT!

I can't resist it. I really can't.

Plus I want to try Xenoblade now.......lol.

I am really confused. Has this ever been done before - that a older SKU of any console is not compatible with a newer version, as far as the games go?

What does it mean? That as time goes by, less and less games will be playable on old 3DS?

I don't own a 3DS, but I know I'd me mightily pissed if they put out Uncharted 5 exclusive on a new PS4 SKU.

GameBoy Color is the most obvious one. Many games exclusive to it and unable to run on the regular GameBoy because of the colors, yet there were still a lot compatible with both too. Even DSi had games you were unable to play on DS (ignoring DSiware and online features in games like Mario Kart) and vice-versa.

This system seems to be like that for 3DS. I'm thinking there could be the rare game only compatible for this N3DS because of the CPU improvement, but 99 out of 100 will probably work for both.

Thank you (and everyone else) for the explanation.

I've never owned any Nintendo systems (and honestly I have no plans for them in the future), so maybe you can understand how this can be confusing to casual audience.

Not only have they confused half the world with the WiiU transition, but now you nned to pay attention if your new 3DS game is compatible with your relatively new, but not entirely new 3DS.

Maybe if they just called it 3.5DS or whatever, it wouldn't be so damn confusing.

Hmm. On second thought, I'm not sure I want this version. It looks like it's running really slowly.

There is no point in waiting for this (horrible) port. Pirate it or dolphin it (or play it on the original hardware).

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

Man this is bullshit, I really want to play the game but I can't justify buying the new system for it. Now what's the value of my old xl on which I spent 200 + tax

How can they get away with this, they've rendered a gadget which 40 mill ppl hv bought as obsolete. Now if anyone wants to play any upcoming high profile 3ds will hv to buy a new system, which isn't even greatly superior to the first. They're just making fans buy the system twice.

Very disappointing,

I really hope they don't plan to release a higher powered wii u as well, then all the money I'd hv spent on nintendo consoles this gen would be complete waste. And this is the first time I've bought nintendo consoles.

No you wouldnt have, it would have run like ass. Some people were saying even this port is downgraded =(

Wii VC games on WiiU would be nice in the future, so many classics I missed out on

I Dolphened it, played it on the original hardware, and now I'm going to play it in 3D!
