still it's unhealthy not having healthy relationships and being able to interact with both genders, like girls who cant get along with girls... those have serious issues. a healthy social life and interactions with other human beings is one of the keys to a happy healthy life... and not creeping out everyone else.

and not doing it exclusively online is VERY important. Join in an activity, sport, hobby, club that exposes you to interaction with people. Go on outings with work coleagues, whatever. Some people should realize that their ineptitude to relate to other human beings is very easy to transpire in their online interactions as well.

I agree with you 100% but .. well.. its easy to tell them, but it this is the internet.. i can't check if anyone listens to the advice we give..  I'm pretty open and outgoing in real life, so it was pretty strange to me..  but i do see students (I part-time teach) who have those problems.. even then it's its hard to try to open them up, let alone internet strangers who we met here on this site.. thats the part those users will have to find out for themselfs..

The pervasive sexist culture of gaming in general actively discourages and punishes female participation.

This. Everyone; read this. I'm actually kinda sick and tired of gaming culture since it's sexistic as fuck, both among gamers and developers. You've seen Samus Arans latest outfit in SMash right? That's what's wrong with the gaming industry as a whole. It's abigger issue than the AAA industry

That outfit was designed by a woman though

That doesnt really matter though. Its still pandering to male fantasies in a way that makes this media a lot more juvinile than most care to admit

Dont be ridiculous. Are you trying to make a list of approved outfits she's allowed to design? We've seen numerous instances of them pulling outfits from old games, and they do the exact thing here and it's a problem because women in games are only allowed to dress like nuns.

Instead of focusing on the fact that this Smash Bros has so many female characters it could make a separate game, which is great, you're gonna focus on non-issues like an outfit looking like exercise clothes on one character designed by a woman that has canonically existed for years.

XD yes, it's not an easy thing to do but it will only get harder as they grow old, seclusion will become more hard to leave behind and making new friendships becomes more and more difficult as we get older. Also as adults we have less patience to help people learn the boundaries and apropriate way to behave in adult friendships that they didnt learn growing up.

Long story short. It was all because of a joke that Galaki made about PMS when a female (I think that it was Marucha) typed PMs in a thread title. It wasn't an offensive joke at all but she flew off of the handle, told off all of the mods because nothing was done, took off with some of her female friends, and created her own site called VGirlz which ironically doesn't allow men (not that that's sexist or anything).

So basically it's all Galaki's fault.

Not exactly how that went.  She asked for sexist jokes to stop as it isnt funny to the her or others.  The PMs  joke is hardly the only exmple of sexist jokes on this forum. I could easily find other examples which never gets moderated even though as Marucha pointed out, is against the rules.

Beyond that there was males on the site that was invited including me, BananaKing, nintendoPie as well as others.  The site was locked down as she wanted to work out all the kinks before opening it up to the public

And its kind of hard to tell somebody what they should and shouldnt be offended by since you arent that person.  And seeing how she wasnt the only person who disagreed with the mods id hardly say she is wrong for how she felt

Can you link to the site?

I'd always assumed there were female users on this site, however, I don't care, because I don't come here to socialize with any specific gender. I come here to talk games/devs/state of the industry and other such news, which are all basically gender neutral subjects.

Hate to say it, but the video game industry isn't terribly welcoming for females in general. It's difficult to willingly insert yourself into an environment where you are the minority, and the majority makes it abundantly clear that it doesn't particularly care for your input (Not just gaming, and not just for women either). It's like putting a sign on your clubhouse that says "BOYS PREFERRED, BUT GIRLS PERMITTED IF THEY DON'T COMPLAIN". It's not an exclusive club, but it does more to deter them than entice them. If you want women to participate, you would have to actively encourage them to and help reverse the mindset that they shouldn't. It's not enough to leave the doors open for all and ignore all the previous bad blood that been incurred over the years. Again, that isn't just applicable for women and video games, either.

Also, some of the members' signatures and avatars don't... really help much. Seeing scantily clad women and bouncing boobs while trying to scroll through the boards isn't exactly appealing to most ladies, surprisingly enough! I've gotten used to it, having been following the industry for awhile, but ya gotta admit, most males would be none to keen on joining a board where the majority was women and several members per thread have a signature with homoerotic pictures of shirtless men.... hmm.... I might be giving myself ideas.

That's never gonna change. And honestly. If I did run into a fourm like that. And wanted to Join, I wouldn't care about those photos. I've seen photos like that here away. My own signature is close to that. I'd only get pissed off if like when those spamers posted those penis porn photos. You could block said photos with the signature disabler. Or any browser addons, if they personally annoy you. There are some Gifs that take way too long to load. So I block them.

i should look in my mail box and see if i still got the very first mail from a girl i wanted to have sex with
