As disappointing as that too would be, I'd take it over Diddy Kong Racing 2. Mario Kart 8 renders the need or such a game non-existent.

That's probably true, but the original Diddy Kong Racing sold really well next to mario kart.

Mario kart obviously got bigger since then, but i doubt Diddy Kong Racing 2 would be a game that takes them a lot of time to make.

Maybe another metroid is being developed at the same time, who knows.

I just hope that it's either not their project, or not their only project, because to me it seems like a waste of time and resources. They need to be diversifying Wii U's library, not oversaturating it. Almost any of their first party studios could hammer out DKR2, but Retro is one of their few that has the capacity to create something like Metroid Prime.

Dear God let it NOT be Diddy Kong Racing 2...

Unfortunately, that's what it's looking like. All the roles are WiiU/3DS which suggests a cross platform game, which is what the rumored DKR2 is going to be >.<

That's a bit of a jump in reasoning. Are you saying it's not possible that Retro are working on a game that is for both Wii U and 3DS, but that isn't the rumoured DKR2? And is it not possible that they're hiring people for roles involving both Wii U and 3DS because they're working on multiple things over time, and may need to be able to work on both systems?

Personally, I'd love it to turn out that they're working on two Metroid titles. A Metroid Prime for Wii U, and a 2D-gameplay Metroid title for 3DS that acts as a partner title, for release at the same time (with some connectivity, perhaps). Or if they're working on a new IP.

I'm keeping my expectations grounded (actually, more like buried 1000KM underground XP), because I really don't want to get dissapointed after the DKCTF reveal :/

I'd rather speculate a hundred different ways. It's more fun. If you don't expect any one specific thing, it's hard to be disappointed.

Also, I'd personally welcome a DKR2, even from Retro, if it's what they want to make. I've heard that DKCTF is one of the best games on the Wii U, and they chose to make it. I'd take DKR2 as chosen by Retro over Metroid Prime 4 forced upon them any day.

Yeah I agree, hope it's more like two Metroid titles

DKR2 would be a bigger letdown than tropical freeze.

Having Retro make Diddy Kong Racing 2 would be like getting Naughty Dog to make Modnation Racers 2 intead of Uncharted 4.

Hope its a new Diddy kong racing!

That would be great. Kind of like Prime and Fusion.

That being said, I don't mind what Retro decides to make. It's a great studio and I'm sure it will make a great game, no matter the genre.

I would love a sequel to Diddy Kong Racing, but that's NOT what Retro should be working on right now! >_>
