Forums - Gaming - So this Madden 15 commerical...

I liked it a lot. Except the whole time I was thinking of watching football games and the team rivalries, and not Madden.

That's some serious waste of marketing dollars. I guess there's nothing really great in the game to talk about?

That was not the point of the ad.  If anything, its well designed to go viral where it gets tons of views on youtube, posted on forums and linked in messageboards.  From a marketing perspective, I thought it hit on a decent level.  It made me smile in certain points and chuckle at others.  In the end, I believe it will be a success at what it aims for which is getting awareness of the game and people talking about it.

As crazy as it is, this is the type of marketing Nintendo could use. The whole "serious 30 second ad with game footage" stuff isn't going to work for them because the PS4/X1 have the graphic hardcore.

They need ads like this that protray a fun/crazy/hip vibe and can go viral.

Call it Gangam Style marketing, and it could work similar to Sega's marketing that caught Nintendo off guard in the 90s.

I'd protray PS4/X1 owners as anti-social nerds and Nintendo as the "just have fun" brand (all's fair in war).
