There weren't really any big announcements of new games, but I thought it was a pretty solid showing and quite an entertaining show. A lot better than E3 was.

Would you not consider Silent Hills a big announcement?

Not really, no. With Kojima behind it I'm sure it'll be great, but nobody went into Gamescom thinking "I really hope Sony announce a Kojima Silent Hill game".

We heard nothing about what Guerilla are working on now; nothing new about Naughty Dog; nothing from Bend; nothing from Quantic Dream; nothing new from Sucker Punch; nothing new from Santa Monica; nothing at all from Insomniac.

What are you trying to say? That a really good surprise announcement, a megaton if you like, was not as good as getting something more expected to happen. I'd have to disagree, being pleasantly surprised is always better.

I'm saying a big announcement is one that was anticipated and that had people excited, or something amazing and shocking (like HL3 being PS4 exclusive or something).

This wasn't really either. This is just a potentially quite cool game by a great designer.

Well I agree on that one but this is still miles bigger than anything MS had and was big for Gamescom standards. Also watch the quote trees, jeez.

I'll go ban myself

I wasn't really comparing to MS, since I didn't watch it in its entirety. But that did have Tomb Raider as an exclusive, which was irritating but a surprise in their favour.

Well less of a surprise given its timed . You can't have expected much more from Sony, maybe a Bloodborne gameplay segment but anything more was wishful thinking imo

Sony had a great show for the PS4 and got me more excited about the system with variety of experience sin the next year or so.

I really hope TGS is a Vita blow out.

Dominates? Well, I didn't see any domination. Both places (Xbox and PS4) are equally crowded and equally people are not overwhelmed by games, especially DriveClub and Fable Legends get "meh" reactions.
The best was the Sony Truck and the best of this was definitely Bloodborne, the rest was okayish and not really crowd-appealing, it seemed (on both sides).

Not much impressed me. Bloodborne looked really good and the Rime game that looked like Zelda Wind Waker.

Well, like he said himself

"it’s only appearing first on PlayStation, rather than being a lifetime exclusive. In fact that was the case with most of the other games of the night."

Microsoft invests more to get timed exclusivity for fewer but bigger games like Tomb Raider and Sony invests more to get timed exclusivity especially for indie games. Nobody shows with that he takes Europe more serious, they only show that they have a different philosophy about what they "moneyhat" and in the end, most PS4 games will be on XBO and most XBO games will be on PS4 but only at different times.

But it makes sense that Sony can show more games (I have no clue how many games Sony and Microsoft showedl) if they have deals for more smaller games. But this doesn't make the games worse on XBox One when they will come to XBox One maybe 6 months later.

Btw just to mention it, Microsoft got criticized a lot last gen  for these timed exclusive deals for indie games and Sony does exactly that now

And they wrote this before people realised P.T is Silent Hill and Tomb Raider is only timed. lolz Sony is the winner by a country mile

this.  so much this.
