In that case it appears that Nintendo is not bleeding nearly enough money. Their A.I.'s item management is beyond awful and vastly underestimates the importance of coins.

In all seriousness, thank God that no communication other than the given text options is allowed in the online lobby. There would be nothing other than bragging and trash talking going on, for the simple reason that there is nothing else to talk about. If people enjoy that kind of discussion there are plenty of associated games that may fulfill their needs.

Exactly. Unless it's a team-based game, what is there to say?

This.

Plus it's an E-rated game, kids don't need to have sexist, racist, homophobic slurs screamed at them.

The only feature for public players that MK8 is missing is some sort of rivals system, where you can pick out worthy opponents and get friend information on them.

Not sure if this is it but if you go to friends menu in online, you also find strangers you've just raced and your win loss/record with them. I forgot if you can favorite that stranger or send them a friend request though.

I got a mild chuckle out of this thread, so way ahead of the par for the course! Well done!

All the AIs are actually XANA code. It's all part of Iwata's plan to take over the world by turning the WiiUs into cyborgs that will enslave the human race.

Trying to keep up with friend's time trial ghost is daunting. The game should let you challenge your friends and notify each other whenever a time gets beaten (and update the respective ghost...).  Having to redownload, etc; I think I'm doing something wrong.

Even the Miiverse posts don't mention which ghost track was uploaded, just dumps them all in the generic time trial sub-forum.

We already have an abundance of games and websites passively promoting vulgar and hateful talk among strangers. At the moment, Nintendo is not one of them (which is made apparent with Miiverse's guidelines) and I wish for it to remain that way. And there are plenty of better places than in-game lobbies where you can find nice people to play with.

As for the bolded part you know just as well as me how ridiculous that statement is.

Nintendo has no reason not to include two versions of online, one with the traditional trash talking, and one were used to. How do you figure that it's not a good idea?

Voice communication is enabled when racing with friends - in other words, people that know for sure when it's all in good fun.

Enabling trash talking to strangers only serve to reward assholes.

And? Assholes bought the overpriced peice of plastic encoded wtih data for 50$, we deserve to be able to yell at our enemies and call them a cunt. Why is  having an option for talking not a good idea? Options are always better.

Plus it's an E rated game for God's sake.

Online modes are usually not rated, they could include a disclaimer like xbox live games.

That kind of horrid behaviour is never justified and should not be encouraged.

It is justified - It's just a game. Trash talking also is just a gane. People who take it seriously are the problem, people like you.
