I wish I knew what type of games MS actually makes. I know that they publish other peoples games, but I have no clue what their goal or focus is for the industry outside of online based gaming.

I think their focus is getting games that appeal to me personally. Crackdown and Killer Instinct proved that.

I'm lost. MS never made Killer Instinct as a franchise as they are terrible at creating IP's themselves. They had to be hounded by fans before they even responded to a revitalize Killer Instinct since they own the IP. What is Microsofts focus? Stop looking inward at yourself and think about broader picture.

I didn't say they created KI. Nor am I arguing they create the best IPs. I am only arguing they have a great collection of IPs, they keep putting fun games on their consoles, and I content with that.

I'm glad demand lead to a new Killer Instinct game. I wish our hounding had the same effect on Sega. I'm still hounding Sony for a new Blasto, or even a remastered Blasto with cutting edge visuals.

Why do I need to look at the broader picture? We are consumers, I'm just point out MS is doing a fine job at pleasing me and maybe even you in some cases.

Ryse is a good game despite mediocre story and too much QTE.
If they wanna make sequel, as long as less QTE and better storytelling, sure why not?

Personally I'd like to see Ryse turned into some sort of open world RPG. We don't need another linear action game, that would probably fail.

With a little more depth in the combat system like stealth mechanics, it could be something great.

I like the concept of open-world RPG but i requires a lot more money and Crytek doesn't look well with their current finance.

But then again if they wanna make it linear then they should improve the story by looking at other medieval games as an inspiration. (or simply import some Naughty Dogs Santa Monica developers lol)

Well I guess the sales must Ryse in order for us to see a sequel.

Sega and MS are two different entities. Sega was talented but lacked resources and MS has no talent but has money. Doesn't matter how much talent you have, you're going down the drain if you dont make good decisions base on limited funds. If Sega had Microsofts level of development they would never have made it very far. MS can just look at something and buy it to supplement their ranks. The ability to create is not innate with them, which is why I have no clue why people actually have a standard for them.

I am glad demand led to another KI as well. I'm enjoying it.

MS would be a much more successful company at competing with Sony if they had the ability to create games from scratch. Sadly they do not, but its not like their money isnt well spent in some areas. Theres not much inspiration nor focus on a goal of any sort. They kind of just go with what the industry is already doing. The Kinect is an example of that.

Crytek should've tried to focus the game on the 360 and left it at that without worrying about the Kinect. The base was much larger and they would've profited. No offense, but I don't even think Sony fans would support Ryse. It's just not worth it just like Sunset Overdrive. Two weak teams trying to survive the beginning of a generation. The only difference with Insomniac is that they are put on a pedestal just because they used to exclusively make games for Sony (which in the end means nothing). If they didnt learn anything from working with Sony its not going to speak much for anything outside of Ratchet and Clank. Sunset is more their speed but that type of game as its being shown this far is a concept that is well out of their range of control. As some have said it looks chaotic rather with the movement and aiming than being a controlled chaos which is something other companies like Sucker Punch whom work for Sony could handle. Sucker Punch perfected grinding and shooting and decent speeds.

Well Rare is working on some games apparently. Maybe we'll hear about that in the near future.

Quntum Break and Sunset Overdrive could provide variety... so could Crackdown, Fable Legends, Scalebound and other unannounced games. Multiplats also add variety to any platform.

Ultimately, lets stop pretending there is lack of games to look forward to on X1 and we don't just play 1st party games.

They're working on something, but is anyone actually going to be excited by it

I'm  not saying there won't be games to look forward to, but their headline exclusive games are very definitely the same trio. Sony's never had as strong a headline act, so certainly appears to have more variety on the surface of things, even if it doesn't really

I'm too old to get excited about games at this point. Well... I did kinda get excited about Killer Instinct, but that was something the world needed.

I'm certainly curious to see what Rare is working on. Excited? I don't excited for much.

Then make a good game and it will sell Crytek ;) Graphic is not everything, Crytek should know that since Crysis 3 ;)

Nintendo had third parties exclusively to themselves because Sega had no pull unless they increased their marketshare. You should look up these things for yourself if you dont understand what people are saying. Sega had to create all of their alternative sports titles from scratch and pony up to sports stars and others for name value to have people gain interest in a variety of titles despite their lack of third party. They had limited funds and had to bust their ass to create internal games that they couldnt get because third party was beholden to Nintendo at that time. They wouldnt take the risk on Sega for a while.
