For a community aka some vocal minority who are obsessed with 1080p number this news (66.67%) is "still" embarrassing.

Not really alot of them will have steam installed on home or work laptops which they rarely game on, and not everyone on steam is a PC snob, its still the minority less than 1080p.

Not to mention you have to opt in to the hardware suvey which alot of people wont do.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm counted in the "Steam community even though I only downloaded a couple games a year ago on my $300 laptop.

25% are rocking a dual 1080p monitor setup, do I see that right?

Yep, most people i know are dual if not triple montior these days

It's the dual vs triple that is confusing. Most multi monitor gamers use triple monitors AFAIK, yet there's a large disparity between the two in these statistics. Something doesn't make sense. Are they laptop + desktop users like generic said? That doesn't make much sense either.

Well this shows that most don't buy 1000 dollar+ pre-made pc's or build 800 dollars+ gaming pc's.

No Steam just detects dual monitors as a single res, these people probably just game on 1 of them while the other monitor is a web browser or youtube or whatever,

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

The steam stats have always been skewed towards laptops, low end laptop gpu's being the most common is proof of that, it isn't that laptops are the biggest portion of gaming platforms mind, its just that pretty much anyone with a laptop as well as a PC will install steam on their laptop, too.

more often than not, laptops usually run around 1366x768, so there you go.

It's like comparing games purchased on psn/xbox live to the total number of accounts, rather than the total number of active or subscribed (ps+/xbl) accounts, you'll just end up with a horribly skewed result from all the empty/idle/useless accounts, just like using the steam survey data will just get you a whole bunch of laptop data.

Personally I wish they'd use GPU/CPU data to divide the stats up between desktop and laptop, would make for much more accurate results.

I wasn't even aware of this poll's existence!

Well the "PC Master race" is actually just a fairly small percentage of PC gamers :P
I'm pretty sure the people who just play a game of hearthstone, some Runescape or a game of League of legends don't need monster PC's and 1080p graphics.
