Forums - Gaming - Are the PS4 versions of multiplats really better??

Sorry, but I don't buy that.  Look at "Infamous" and it's graphics, then compare to Destiny.  Bungie OBVIOUSLY kept the complexity of the graphics low so they could give the same experience on the XB1 than the PS4.

When you look at other games, like say Sniper Elite 3...keeping the "bells and whistles" on both versions brings the XB1 to it's knees.  So, again, very obviously, Bungie decided to keep things lower key to let them have parity (as far as the overall experience) across both platforms.  However, I think when the final game comes out, it will STILL look better on PS4.

I know. I'm tired of this defense of the xbox one. Just because you can't tell the difference (which I really find hard to believe honestly) doesn't make it not better. It's because fans of xbox don't want to acknowledge that they are buying an infererior product. At this point, there's no real objective argument against the ps4 vs the xbox one. The only real defense of the xbox one now is that you like the exclusives more. And they annoying part about this defense is that people always treat it likes their opinion is the only correct one. If someone would rather play halo than uncharted, whatever, it's their choice. But what annoys me is that many people treat this situation like they like Halo more because it's just flat out better.

So I have a serious question for you. Last gen (PS3 vs Xbox 360), which was the "inferior" product?

Pros of the ps3:

More reliable

generally better looking exclusives

free online or more features if you pay

Pros of the 360:

Generally better looking multiplats.

Last gen was far closer, so I'd say it was more of a toss up. I don't see what point you're trying to prove though.

In terms of multiplats, the PS3. Now I have a question for you, do you agree?

I don't really have an opinion, but your answer helps my point. Look where both systems ended up in overall worldwide sales 7-8 years down the road. Both essentially neck and neck at 83 million systems each. Both hugely successful systems with different things to offer. And this despite a really rocky first 1-2 years for the PS3 and multiplats looking inferior for at least the first few years compared to 360 (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-360-vs-ps3-graphics-comparison-round-5/1100-6242816/).

What's happening today with regards to PS4 vs Xbox One is completely irrelevant to the end result 5-7 years from now. From PS3's launch in 2006 and through 2007 and really for years beyond that they got their ass kicked by 360, but look where they are now. It didn't matter. Nothing is going to be decided in the first couple years.

Would you stop with this..  Because it simply isn't true.. Want to know why????  Because up until just a few months ago the X1 version of Destiny WAS going to be released at 900p/30GFPS..    We know this to be 100% FACT, and even saw this with the BETA still being just 900p.

IF Bungie had been going for "parity" with Destiny they would have pulled the PS4 version down to 900p.  BUT NOPE. The PS4 version was ALWAYS set to be released at 1080p.

So really this just proves your "Bungie reached for parity" that you keep repeating to be false. With the adjustments Microsoft made with the SDK it allowed the X1 to be brought to "parity" at the last minute. This was NOT the original plan. There would have been NO parity, and proves they did not "work harder" on the X1 version.

Actually, I believe you are wrong there.  The XB1 version will have lower shadow detail and other graphical tweaks that lower the amount of processing power required...so they can hit 1080p/30.

Sorry, but you don't make up for a 50% difference in HARDWARE power with a few SDK tweaks.  Something had to give for them to increase the resolution...and you will see this when the final game hits.

Wrong where?  My point was that X1 version was NOT made to be in "parity" with the PS4 version.  That is the reason I used quotes around parity after talking about the SDK.  I never said anything about the SDK making the X1 match the PS4 in any sort of way besides it hitting 1080p.. Had nothing to do with what I was talking about. The 1080p ability was a last minute change because of the SDK.. that was all I said.

Point.. The PS4 was NOT hampered in any way to have "PARITY" with the X1 version as eva01beserk keeps saying.. over and over..

Over and over? Have I mentioned this more than once? I think I did said that on a few other threats so I could have been you but I just dont keep track of forum posters. And I never said anything of the sort. I said they decided to work harder on the x1 and not the ps4. Dosent mean they removed anything from the ps4 version just they were happy with it to a certain point and focused all their efforts into the x1, time that could have improved the ps4 version.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Really? Think it has more to do with with DESTINY being an FPS.  Types of games have alot to do with what developers decide to do graphically... less to do with parity.

Why are so many PS4 games inferior to RYSE? Did all those games dial it back?  Nope.. has to do with developer choices and ability.  There has yet to be ANY single one game the PS4 (I know. I own both systems) where the PS4 utterly blows away the X1 in terms of graphaical appearence..  Sorry.. just isn't there.  Even with EXCLUSIVE titles..

You are forgetting one crucial difference.  Last gen, the PS3 was also a Blu-Ray movie player, which the Xbox 360 lacked.  MANY of the sales of the PS3 were due to that one feature...also, the PS3 has a FAR larger library of exclusive titles.

This gen, the console that needs to come up from behind has inferior hardware AND an inferior selection of games.  How is that going to happen, exactly?

So Blu-Ray "saved" PS3?  That makes no sense considering that only mattered in 2007/2008 when the PS3 was the cheapest Blu-Ray player but that's what it was struggling. Then in the same sentence you say the PS3 has a far larger library of exclusives? Of all time? In the first couple years? In the last few years? Is that true? I don't even know, but again, if it's true, look where 360 ended up compared to PS3 in overall sales. Essentially neck and neck.

Any perceived inferiority that may exist today or existed early this year will be gone by this fall. Destiny is 1080p on both systems, they also just announced that Diablo will release for both systems at 1080p/60fps.  That's all gone, my friend. And for the few hundred fanatics like us that scour message forums and debate this stuff, there are thousands that don't and are completely oblivious to it. Every single other friend I have that I play with often, only 1 out of about 10 of us are even on message forums and gaming websites. And I'm that one. These guys are mostly casual gamers that have no idea that there's this massive framerate/resolution battle online and they all own Xbox Ones and love them and love the games they're playing.

And please, lay out your list of this "inferior" selection of games. I mean that's completely your opinion and regardless, we're 9 months into this generation.

I have no desire to trawl through lists to find all of the PS3 exclusives and when they released, but in the end, the PS3 had FAR more exclusive games than the 360.  And despite you saying that Blu-ray mattered only in the first few years, I know for a FACT that people were still buying them to use primarily as blu-ray players very late in the gen (I work in the consumer electronics industry, believe me, I know about such things).  In any case, the argument still stands, the PS3 had superior hardware, build quality, selection of exclusive games, and a blu-ray drive.  ALL of this led to them being able to catch up to the Xbox 360...and it's STILL outselling the 360, even today (worldwide).

In the case of this generation, again, I am not going to go find the exact titles for you, but the PS4 has DOUBLE the number of games that the XB1 has RIGHT NOW.  Spin that any way you want, but it's true.

But hey, if YOU are enjoying your XB1, don't let me stop you!  Enjoy!  Just because it's not a very popular system doesn't mean that you can't enjoy it.

Wow, not tht it really relates to this thread, but using the old DOUBLE the games line and saying that the other person needs to spin that.  I think most people will agree with you that the PS4 has a lot more indie titles on the system.  But, as far as retail games go, it is nearly even.  And if you start counting AAA exclusives, it would swing into the XB1s favor.

It is near the end of the end....

You mean if you segregated "game" into different categories of games.  If you take all the games (indy games, AAA games, exclusive games) and view it - which is the least biased way to view it - you get the true picture and number.
