Forums - Nintendo - Safe To Say 3rd Party Support From Wii U Is Pretty Much Gone?

Before 3rd Party would again heavily developing for WiiU it needs to outsell PS4+XOne by factor 2-3.
But as this never will happen I assume after Holiday 2014 we will not see ANY further game from any big publisher anymore on WiiU.
If COD:AW still comes to WiiU in 2014 - which i highly doubt - the 2015 COD will NOT come to WiiU.
After this Year WiiU will be dropped by every studio.
I doubt that Watchdogs still will be released on WiiU.
I guess project Cars for WiiU will still be canceled.
I dont even think JustDance or the Lego Games still will be coming in 2015.

This is really really really sad, but unfortunately the truth.
And without Nintendo paying them i fear no 3rd party will ever again make a game for a Nintendo Home console.

I am sorry to say that, but the industry finally managed to kick Nintendo out of home console business.
Nintendo can not do anything about it.
So maybe they launch 3DS successor holiday season 2016 and from then concentrare on handheld games.
They dont even have to try to make a new home console, no 3rd would support it voluntary.

Pretty much. Capcom is a tough loss.

With Capcom refusing to even give the Wii U a port of RE REmake (a game that debuted exclusively on the GameCube in 2002) while every other major console platform gets it ... it signals kind of a new rock bottom for Nintendo consoles.

Not even the likes of Capcom will support Nintendo consoles anymore it seems.

What's even left? Maybe one more year of Call of Duty and the standard Skylanders/Just Dance sequels? Oh and I guess Sonic.

This is the worst third party support I've ever seen for a Nintendo console, it even makes the N64 look good (N64 got stuff like The World In Not Enough, Madden, Beetle Adventure Racing, WipeOut 64, San Fransico Rush, WCW/NWO, Turok, Hybrid Heaven, Castlevania, Star Wars Episode I Racer, etc. at least).

Man the n64 had classics on there. It looked good on its own.

Wii U makes the virtual boy look good i would say lol.

You're blowing things slightly out of proportion.

To be fair, Resident Evil REmake was released on Wii in 2009. It's possible that Capcom aren't releasing it on Wii U for that reason - otherwise, it would have been on Gamecube, Wii, and Wii U. Maybe they figure it's overkill.

Besides which, Capcom wasn't exactly putting a lot out on Wii U to begin with. Their entire Wii U lineup consists of Resident Evil: Revelations (a HD port of a 3DS game), Monster Hunter 3 variants (ports of a Wii/3DS title), and Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara on the eShop.

Both Activision and Ubisoft appear to be continuing to support the Wii U (in the case of Ubisoft, apparently there are titles they have made for Wii U that they're holding off on releasing until Wii U has sold more... which suggests that they expect it to sell better). Warner Bros, Disney, Bandai Namco, Tecmo Koei, and Sega also appear to be continuing support. And then there's all the indie support.

It's true, it's the worst third party support the system has had... but it's a bit of an exaggeration to say it's "pretty much gone". Especially considering that most of the third party support for the Wii consisted of shovelware (there were certainly gems amongst the third-party titles released, of course). What has mostly happened is that third parties have shifted their shovelware to mobile.

I'm mostly a positive person, but I disagree with your optimism. Ubisoft is gone, aside from Watch Dogs (btw we haven't heard anything about if for months now, is it cancelled?) all you get is Just Dance and crap like that (the game their holding off is also family friendly, so no thanks also). Thanks but I'll pass. Activision atm it's just Skylanders (as time passes by I'm getting more and more suspicious about CoD:AW coming to WiiU), thanks but I'll pass. WB won't give us new Batman. Sega is giving us nothing except for Sonic which I might get in the future if there's nothing else I'd rather play and it has to be good (following the trend with Sonics after MEga Drive era, probably won't be good). Bandai Namco and Tecmo Koei aren't giving us nothing except for games Nintendo funded/co-developed. In fact I'm not sure but I think there are games Bandai is developing for other platforms.

Most gamers don't care for Just Dances, Skylanders, Disney Infinity and other games like that. We still get the indies but those mostly are fillers between big games.

What's sad is I believe many games skipping the system could turn a profit if managed well.

But oh well, i'll just have to buy a secondary system once again. I've done it for 3 generations now so I'm pretty much used to it. :D

No he's completely right. Get ready for the Sony 4DS by 2017 with a Zelda launch title on PS5's debut.

Sarcasm aside, Sega did announce they have 4 Wii SKUs in development.

Pretty much. It seems like publishers go out of their way not to support it sometimes

Good... I'm tired of half assed and/or overpriced ports, remakes, or just plain new games that even the developer are ashamed of

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

I agree the 3rd party support sucks but the console is selling much better and is maintaining its lead over Xbone so hopefully there are some games to be announced soon. I mean if Wii U sales hit over 9 million by Xmas surely 3rd parties HAVE to jump on board no????

i think its more due to the fact that 3rd party games dont really sell on wiiu ( mainly due to crappy or deylead ports)

Ironically now, the Vita was heavily criticized for the lack of support from third-parties titles, and basically be an indie machine. Now ,some fanboys point indie games as a perfect supplement to the lack of support from Third-parties games. Times have really changed.
