I thought I asked you to stop being asinine.

If you're ignorant of the indie scene on Nintendo platforms, that's fine.  But no need to put it on display and be an ass about it too.

It wasn't much of a scene, afaik, yeah good games come and go, but the indie scene is happening now, and not so much on wii u.

It only shows the lack of knowledge viper1 has about the indie scenes on other platforms.. he might think the indie scene on the nintendo consoles are doing great.. but like in the gamasutra link i posted there is defintetly something wrong which hopefully with a fresh start will be improved.. Viper1 may call me an ass about being blunt in the way I said it, but he should read up with the other platforms and how they handle indies.. I truely think Ouya is doing a better job then Nintendo.

Having actually read the Kotaku interview and Dan's recent tweets, it doesn't sound all bad (though the press is certainly going to spin it as being all bad). Sounds like Adelman wanted to do his own thing for a few years now, but never really had the courage to speak up. Hope it goes well for him!

Also, he said this little tidbit towards the end of the interview:

"I know there are going to be a bunch of forum comments and editorials saying, "OMG Nintendo is doomed!" but the truth is that Nintendo's indie program is in good hands. It was never really just me. There is a large group of people working on helping developers through the process and they're going to continue doing that. My understanding is that they are planning on back-filling my role. Before leaving, I put together a list of people I thought would be good candidates for the job and would be happy to provide any input they want. Having the right person in that role will be critical for the long-term health of the business, and I'm sure they're going to get someone great."

He was in the neogaf thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=867680
Developers seemed to like him, but to be fair thats not enough.. I hope his succesor is more strongminded and really has the balls to improve Nintendo's indie program..

at the bolded: I think in the indie scene that isn't good enough.. through the proces of getting an indie game on a nintendo console? .. there should be more PR support, tech support for developers, maybe even some funds... (maybe he means that, but it seems to me with "process" its only how to get an indie game on a nintendo console..) There need to be a stronger person at the helm..

I agree with Nikkom mostly, I just feel like Nintendo can't do much else than fund indie games but is that a financial stable thing to do? If popular games like Batman cancel their DLC on the platform then how will Indie games sell on the platform?

if I was Nintendo... Have you ever tried to buy an eShop game? how cluncky it is? ever visited the eshop site?

https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Wii-U-download-software/Super-Toy-Cars-906215.html
it says:

Please check Nintendo eShop, Nintendo DSi Shop or Wii Shop Channel to get the latest pricing information for downloadable titles.

It really doesn't take a teacher in marketing that it isn't smart Nintendo want parents to go online with a 3DS or WiiU and have them buy games for their kids.. It should be done through the site.. heck in Europe we don't even see the price! the price!

http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-GB/Product/Deadly-Premonition/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8024d5607d1
https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/nl-nl/games/the-last-of-us-remastered/cid=EP9000-CUSA00556_00-THELASTOFUS00000

bamn.. I can buy a game directly and when I turn on my console and login with my account its downloading.. how easy is that? if your console is aimed at a younger audience.. reliant on parents to buy games for them that's like the first thing to handle.. Does Nintendo really expects that parents know how to get to the eShop on a 3DS or a WiiU?

its not strange that indies don't feel the same exposure when you have to go through hoops to buy their games on a nintendo console.. it's like basic things Nintendo could improve on which in the end would help indies...

Sad to see him go, but I'm sure Nintendo will easily find a replacement!

He was a real value to Nintendo and a high quality guy -  they will find someone to take his position but it won t be easy to replace him at all

nintendo platforms were never really popular for indie's, so it's good imo to hire a new guy for the role

no he did great.. look at the reactions my previous post got.. he brought the great exclusive award winning indie game ....., ....  and ... to Nintendo..
(someone will fill it in)

You want me not be asinine about it? Well ok: In the position that Nintendo is having with the 3DS they have by far the worst Indie scene of all the platforms.. PSN, Xbox Live, iOS and Android are way ahead of them.. I even would say that Ouya is ahead.. Is it better then before? Sure.. is it good.. meh.. to have games like gunman clive, Squids Odysee, Tengami, 1001 spikes ported over is not good enough.. With the lack of big 3rd party support the WiiU and the 3DS and the money Nintendo has because of the Wii they could have been THE indie console maker.. How long did it take them to have cross-buy? last month? Nintendo's indie support has been weak with no future vision behind it.. I hope his succesor does better..

User was warned for this post. - Viper.

The guy you are talking about was trying to change sow of the items you refered to -  the policy s are Nintendo s -

what you are saying about Dan A is way off base

Don't pay attention to him. He's a troll and quite unknowledgable on anything.

He doesn't know that Nintendo's indie scene is booming... even more so than other platforms. (Aside from steam)

because people care about them, not like batman...

Eh.. I am hopeful that Nintendo will find someone who is at least almost as good as Dan!
