I see nothing wrong with the name "Playstation 4".

"The Mega Duck WG-108 (also known as Cougar Boy)..."
*blink*

Believe it or not, this happened to me just recently. I asked a mate of mine if he had the Xbox One and he said yes. I started to ask him about it and he said, "Wait, you mean the old one, right?" And when I said that I meant the new one, he said, "Oh! No, I don't have it."

Neither do I. In fact, I like the simplicity of it. It's the fourth Playstation... Playstation number 4... "Playstation 4" is concise and accurate. I guess you could make an argument that it's "boring". But it's functional. Personally, I prefer that.
Anyway, I pretty much agree with what's been said already. Saturn, Dreamcast, Gamecube... all cool names. Oddly enough, despite it being kind of unoriginal, I've always thought the full name of the NES - "Nintendo Entertainment System" - just... I don't know... sounds cool. I can't really explain that one. I like its Japanese name too - Famicom!
Let's see... Playstation and Xbox were both cool names in their first gens. "Playstation" had a nice ring to it, and I seem to like names with "X" in them, and with the Xbox you get two for the price of one!
After their first incarnations, I thought they both lost a bit of their novelty. Playstation remained, as I said above, boring but functional. Xbox, on the other hand, had the "Xbox 360" which was a little jarring at first but did have an odd ring of its own (though nowhere near as cool as just "Xbox"), but then they kind of went off the cliff with "Xbox One". That was just... "Huh?" I mean, I understand it was related to how they were trying to market the console but it clearly didn't have the desired outcome.
As far as the Wii... yeah... ok I have to ask... Is there anyone who didn't have the obvious thought when they heard the name spoken aloud for the first time? "Wee..." Come on! I can't be the only one!
Ok, what else? I know that some of Atari's consoles were mentioned. I actually love both "Atari Lynx" and "Atari Jaguar". I think those are awesome names. I also like the names of some of the older machines. This will probably sound really dopey but I get a bit of a retro-kick out of names with the word "vision" in them, like "Colecovision" and "Intellivision". It's a nice throwback to the times when the concept of "games on your television" was this new and exciting thing!
Hmm... some possibly less-famous ones... Turbografx... N-Gage... and a personal favourite of mine (name-wise), the Vectrex. I'm pretty sure I've seen one of those at my mate's place. He's one of these guys who has just about every system known to man since the transistor was invented. Well, ok, not quite. But he does have a massive collection of consoles among other things. And yes, this is the same mate who misunderstood my meaning regarding the "Xbox One".
Oh, and how could I forget the grandfather of them all - the Magnavox! Yes, I know "Magnavox" was the manufacturer and the console itself was called the "Odyssey", but damn it, let me have this one... it's such a cool name! Or perhaps it's just my affinity for the letter 'X'.
ColdFire - The man with no name.
Xbox has to be the worst name in all of gaming....obviously catering to the Bro culture at the time. Everything that era was X...for extreme. So lame.
And what's funny is how many people thought that a company like Microsoft could embody that sort of spirit. Marketing 101 sham pulled off amazingly.

Oh gosh there is!

Wii U was them trying to cash off the name of the Wii. It backfired... big time though. Hopefully next time they won't be so stupid. Xbox One.... I am sorry but I think this is actually worse the the name Wii U. I always called the original Xbox the Xbox one because well... it was the first Xbox.

I was extremely disapointed

What about the Super Nintendo? I mean there is an awesome description for it in the name. It's just SUPER. The only thing which would have been better is Ultra Nintendo instead of Nintendo 64. I mean...think about it: ULTRA. How awesome is that?
I don't hate Microsoft, I don't hate PC,
I don't prefer Sony, I don't prefer Nintendo.
...Ok, I love Nintendo but this is something about tolerance, ok?
