The next xbox will launch at most 5 years after, probably 4 making it 2017. If MS is going to lose this gen, they'll want if over as fast as possible.

And seriously, when has an xbox system not been in some way abandoned after 3 years....

shots fired!  But kinda true and I hope people hold it against them if they release that soon.  A system needs to be supported for 5 years at least to justify its existence.

When do you think PS5/Xbox 4/Wii3 will come out?

Generations restart typically 5 years after the release of a new console. This generation is very underpowered graphically, especially the Wii U. Adjusted for inflation, this generation has the cheapest consoles given the time they have been out.

I think Nintendo's next handheld will come out in 2016 since the 3DS is already 3 years old and has its remodels already.

There won't be another Sony handheld I don't think.

Wii U will have a successor as quickly as winter 2017 because of low Wii U sales.

Xbox 3 and Playstation 5 should release in 2017/2018 with processing power at least 4X of the consoles today and full backwards compatibility.

Just my toasty thoughts what do you think??

Bullshit. Like all of your Predictions, thoughts, etc.

You just want power, just as you said some times alone in this post. Buy a PC. Leave this Forum.

2018 at the earliest for me, 2020 at the latest

I agree with Sony droping out the handheld market

In 2017, we will see Nintendo's next console launch and that will be the start of next...generation lol. I think handhelds will come one year earlier with Sony dropping out and Nintendo going back to the GBA era when they were the only pony in the race.

That makes no sense, they release Wii U successor in 2017 because of low sales? But Playstation 5 ALSO comes out in 2017?????

PS5/Xbox4 will be dependent on how successful Nintendo's next console will be. I wouldn't be surprised to see them release their new consoles in 2021/2022.

lol...Really? You think consoles that were underpowered at LAUNCH, are going to last 8-9 years? If they do that, you can kiss the console industry goodbye.

2019-2020 for MS ans sony

2017-18 for nintendo

                                                                      Play Me

2016 - Nintendo Fusion Handheld + "Home Miniconsole" Variant (fall 2016)
2017 - Microsoft Successor
2018 - Sony Playstation 5 (4K capable graphics)

Beyond that I think this next console cycle will be the last one in a lot of ways. After that, most people will stream games or use a Steam like service to get their game content.

Yes, I do. It wouldn't surprise me a bit. 2020 is probably a more realistic year, but having a 8-9 year cycle is definitely a possibility with the way the industry is evolving. Again, too many variables and changes to account for.  You make it sound like the console industry isn't capable of keeping its systems on the market for that long when we just witnessed a 7-8 year cycle. I don't believe consumers really care about how powerful a console is or whether a game can pull off 60fps/1080p. Games already look great; having a more powerful console isn't the solution here. We won't see huge generational gaps like we did between PS1 to PS2 and PS2 to PS3.
