Forums - Nintendo - VGC Pokémon tourney - X/Y or OR/AS?

Do you want to participate in a Pokémon tournament?

YES! NOW! 2 40.00%

Only after OR/AS are released 0 0%

I killed my pokémon, so not right now 0 0%

See results 3 60.00%

Total:5

That's a bit weird... I've never heard/seen a tournament with that type of rule.
I think the most restrictive one is the Kalos-bred clause. Which is fine by me (all but one of "mines" are from Kalos), but I could understand others frustation.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Hello :D

I just come here to share a few battles I've had with another user on the site (Squeezol). I've taught him how to become a Pokemon Master, so I'm his Sensei or Senpai. Whatever. These are the 3 most close ones!

I'll check them out! Also don't forget to bring him to our tournament (I'll be editing the thread now, start setting up the next one).

pointless bragging time: I finally did it! I got 100 wins in a row on Battle Maison! YEAH!

Nah. He's main is a Sand Veil Garchomp, so he's not coming.

Also, 100 battles!? How!?? I guess I can do that if I use one of my favorite 3 v 3 teams, but even then, I can't get farther than 40 battles with that team!

Teach me your ways master!

Well I did change up the rules quite a bit and I'm even allowing previous generation Pokémon in (I bet I'll regret that decision).
Still, Sand Veil is total BS and will remain banned. However, you can always force him to change

Well, a lot of my Battle Maison success comes from my team selection - specifically, Greninja and Aegislash. They're both great Pokémon that can do some serious damage, but the best thing about them (against NPCs) is that they enable you to manipulate the AI. So for example, every time a Magnezone shows up at the beginning of a battle, I know it will use Thunderbolt - so I transform my Greninja into a Grass type and then subsequently switch out knowing that the next move is a Flash Cannon.

Agree

Also, I've realised that too about the AI. But you still would need to get lucky.

Team-Making Rules: Every player is allowed to register up to 8 Pokémon to be in their teams, though they can only use up to 6 per battle. This means that a player can change their team to face certain rivals - however, in the knockout stage, the selected team for a match must be the same for as many battles as required. Every player must register at least 6 Pokémon in their teams before the competition begins, though they can extend their roster up to 8 during the competition. It's important noting that, while you don't have to reveal held items and movesets (and it is allowed to change them during the tournament), you must reveal all your Pokémon when registering them - each player's teams will be shown on the thread's OP.

You mean, during the knockout stage we can only use 6 pokemon, right? We can't switch up any member after the round robin?

Yeah, I had a hard time trying to explain that one...

You can still change your team in the knockout stage, in the sense of picking a certain team for the semi-final and a different one for the final - what I was trying to say you can't do is change it during one of the matches (since knockout matches will be played in a 2 out of 3 format).

Oooohhh... That makes more sense!

Just got back into Pokemon a week ago. It's making me feel like an adolescent all over again! :)

I see that your tourney rules are similar to Smogon's recommended rules. What's wrong with Sand Veil and Blizzard? What makes them so bad?
