I'm not sure why, that with pretty much everyone here disagreeing with you, you're so sure that mobile VC would be a great idea for Nintendo. It could very well happen like this: 1. Nintendo puts retro Mario on iOS/Android for free (profits from ad revenue). Revenue spike, then fall. 2. Investors pressure nintendo to release more games on smartphones. 3. The few casual who still buy nintendo hardware and software (mostly 3ds) stop buying. After all, mommy can always say "you already have Mario on your phone" whenever a kid asks for a new device to play the new games. The price difference is just too big. 4. Shareholders point to fledgling profits in the console division and push for it to be closed in favor of developing new games for mobile platforms. If the CEO is opposed to such a move, they'll elect one who isn't.

they could disagree all they want. They arent anymore right or wrong than i am since none of them are actual investors so none of us know what really goes on behind close doors.
Revenue could spike and then fall, sure but how far will it fall? it surely will be doing better than what the are doing now.
Ninty doesnt have to give in to the pressure. Its called compromise
They'll still buy because little Timmy is still going to want the latest tech and games. By that logic no one would have gotten GTA 5 since they can get 3 on their phone
again compromise
| bluetoad said: why dont the have a mobil division that make small unique game just for mobil. No mario, zelda ect but small experimental games. Use young new devs to do so. this way it puts nintendos name on mobile, gives people who dont own nintendo consoles a chance to discover the nintendo magic. And maybe the small experiments will lead to full blown games to put on their consoles that will have a new fan base. |
that sounds like a good idea

my point is people would still buy it, they buy them all the time
Honestly, their management either needs to go or drastically change. The decisions they make now with the reasons are just horrible. Nintendo is going to far down the hole. It is like they hit bottom and then started to dig even lower.

What decisions are you reffering to?
"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

Have you seen their marketing strategies? Have you seen the VC and overall digital structure and the state it is in? Their decision on the Horrid NNID system. Their region lockings decisions. CLub Nintendo is a complete joke. Their over all handling of the Wii U in general really. Like come on, they go on about the online capabilities for a system and then don't even really do it. Their signature game for the Wii U had no online (don't tell me that having peoples miis counts as online) and then now we have other games that are comining out that are local co-op only. The constant restrictions they put on to make things kid friendly even though you have a browser that you can go and browse for porn. They're not doing anything really to interest developers to their system so instead. Developers are walking away and leaving them out making it so there is hardly anything coming. I don't know about you though, I don't like getting a quality game every 3-4 months and after each one is followed by drought after drought after drought.
If Iwata is all that's standing in the way of Nintendo becoming a useless mobile developer than we should all be bowing down to him like a god and pray that he stays where he is.
It's not really scheming now since it's on the interwebs and Iwata can probably see this article now..
