What else is Nintendo spending on to be not making a profit from this? Are they going on a massive buying spree we aren't aware of?

I would hope it is on all the marketing that they promised they'd be doing to keep the sales going.

That's damn good numbers by MK8, but the sad part is that 80% of those sales sold to existing Wii U owners apparently. Nintendo needs to sell to none existing costumers

The problem is, people wought a wii U knowing that MK would eventually be there. So it did push the sales, but it can't be quantified.

To push sales now, they need to surprise people. Because most people who are interested in classic nintendo Ips already bought wii U. They kinda did it with e3 2014 announcement though

Its sold not shipped I've been viewing this site for a while and I see people here saying shipped with nintendo. I have never seen them say shipped in their reports because its always been sold. Even when sales are terrible they give all info and don't hide behind shipped or combining consoles and handheld sales. Yes .82 Mill sold in 1 month.

I am a nintendo fan who follows their info very closely and I have not seen the word shipped in any of their reports. 6.68 mil at the end of June.. I wish I could add 1 to that but I can't afford annything right now... Heck I spent food Money on Pokemon X :(

Yes, actually.. There was a rumor which said that Next Level Games was working on a Diddy Kong Racing sequel and that Retro was just helping a bit with the development of the game!

I think a Pokemon game would do well to boost sales.

Mario Kart 8 looks great but got old after a couple hours, it's just a little too recycled. However, Mario Kart is one of those games that will sell any time somebody buys a system, it isn't a opening weekend type that most titles are.

Nice enough results all around considering, Mario Kart is doing awesome of course.

The loss doesn't matter much, it's Q1 so that happens often. Mario Kart will certainly also help the WiiU in a big way coming holiday season. People will want this game, and it will sell forever afterward to. Smash will push sales even further in a couple months. Maybe we can actually get some respectable sales out of the WiiU yet .

3DS is in a bit of a slump, but it has a positive enough prospect for now. I'm not too worried.
