At least they are very transparant about their losses and profits unlike other consolemakers..

Every console maker has to report losses and profits and they do. You just don't pay attention.

At least nintendo has balls to show the numbers of HW instead of jointing together am i right? :P

Nintendo doesn't have a 7th gen console shipping enough to joint with anyways. :P Not like they can say "the Wii family sold X amount" because it would just be the Wii U.

wii u from 160.000 to 510.000...tripled...oh so bad....!

you realize shipping .5 million units in your second year is a very bad number, right? no matter how awful your previous year is, these numbers are still bad.

well, every site points out that are sold not shipped...who knows, allow me to have different aspect...!

You dont know how financial earnings reports work do you? Its always shipped. To all of these companies, shipped to store = sold.

Well couldn't they do that last year :0 Also they could put 3ds with wiiu numbers, its not unheard of, i think ps3+psp did that before?

Anywayz no big dealll

How are they still losing money if the 3DS is profitable? Wii U I guess, but they're not even selling very many of those.

Q1 is never a profotable part of the year, plus ttheya re still suffering losses from the last quarter, and are most likely preparing QoL and Ammibo. By next quater we may see a again

Wow,  are you saying that in the period where the only 2 exclusives release of the system are hyrule warriors and and wii sport will turn profitable instead of the one with MK? ok...

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Eeeeh, I think 100 million is extremely unlikely, that would really need something new to reignite the interest of the people that went to smartphones/tablets for their mobile gaming needs. Like I said above, if Nintendo (or anyone else on 3DS) can come up with a new game that has the same kind of success that the original Pokemon games did, then it might be possible.

Aham...

:P

Anyway, there will be a presentation about the results today? anyone has a ETA? Remenber that gibbon is not allowed to tweet the Q&A presentation anymore.

Odd things those exchanges losses and restrucituring lossses. From where those came and what they mean? New building and the abenomics?

Well, maybe they decide to cut the price now.

Those are without a doubt a great success in Japan, but still nowhere near Pokemon levels. The first gen Pokemon games are according to Vgchartz the best selling games in Japan of all time and while Yokai Watch will undoubtetly continue to sell amazing in Japan it will never make such a dent in the west, if it even ever releases over here. Pokemon changed a whole generation of gamers.

I would like to make a note and that is that these are Wii U salws from April to Jun, so VGchartz number is higher now because it also has tehir Jully numbers, and that next quarter may be higher as we will have give from a 30k average to a 60 average, and the launch of Hyrule Warriors, and Bayonetta 2 in Japan

Y'all seen this chalkboard?

Poor Nintendo, MK8 looks so fun and couldn't prevent the losses, the masses just dont know what a good game is

Q1 is not a profitable quater of the year, in fact, Mario Kart 8 did amazing things for the Wii U. Plus this is from APRIL to June. Next quater will have an increase from a 30k average to  60K average, Hyrule Warriros, and Bayoneeta 2 in JP.

People seem confused. Some points:

-Wii U is much improved due to MK8 and sales are up over 200%. If that carries forward for the year, the system should sell a solid 7 million or so. I would expect at least double last year in the end, but very possibly closer to triple if Nintendo takes aggressive steps such as a reduced price, ets.

-3DS is struggling relative to its previous success and especially when compared to the DS. The dedicated handheld market has taken a major blow from other mobile formats. 3DS is still a solid success on par with systems like XB360 or PS3, but not reaching the levels handhelds have enjoyed.

-Nintendo is lost money because it is a slow quarter for the games business. It doesn't matter if Wii U or 3DS turn a "profit per unit" if the overhead of running the company is greater than revenue. Game companies typically expect to lose for 3 quarters and turn the profit from the Christmas period. The goal here is to minimize losses.

-Nintendo definitely needs a new handheld product to engage young consumers. Be it a tablet, a phone or something even cooler than either of those, 3DS isn't quite cutting it.

You said mostly what I think, but they should never NEVER make a tablet. They have even stated that those games are awful.

3DS .82 million? over tracked here most likely?

WiiU .51 million? how does that stack up against vgc numbers?

overall these are bad numbers honestly.

For a console that haas been selling poorly, to sell .5 Million in Q1 is not bad at all. These are actually good numbers, not GREAT but good. They will most likely be able to make their year end goal (fisical year)
