shit man,.. halo 5 is over a year away. i'm not committing to anything that far down the road. for all we know xbox could be $99 by then.

Are you suggesting that MS could pull a Nintendo?

You don't have to agree or disagree. The writing is on the wall whether you accept reality or not.

Please post a pic of that writing, it would help make your point much more clear!

It is near the end of the end....

Thanks!  You saved me the trouble of looking up the pic and posting it myself! :)

Sorry guy, the Xbox One isn't going anywhere. Even it's playing second fiddle to PS4 for several years or even the entire lifetime of this generation doesn't mean MS is discontinuing the Xbox One and closing up shop. There's no saving required. MS is committed for the long haul.

That just doesn't happen. Even at their most desperate, I wouldn't expect a drop like that.

OT: It's possible that Halo 5 could etch it over the PS4, in the US, for that week. Right now, I just can't call it, because the two instances where I expected the X1 to be ahead, even if brief, never came to pass. In the same breath, those two situations are not a new Halo releasing. Time is needed.

I think the only way Xbox1 can win is if Xbox1 is $100 cheaper than PS4.  There is no debate that Xbox1 is an inferior system, so it should be priced acordingly.  Although the public (wal-mart shoppers) are slow to react, they are starting to recognize that you shouldn't pay the same price for a console to play the inferior version of all 3rd party games.

That's the problem with that line of thinking.  Most people who buy at walmart could give a rats ass enough to even buy a bluray player.  They watch cable tv and DVD's still.  Do you really think they care about 1080p or 900p?  THey just bought a new tv there that is 1080p, but they didn't even know that it had it.

I agree that the XB1 kinectless sku should be less than the PS4 just for the fact that people can't be bothered to see how small the differences are between the 2 consoles and will buy what they hear is better.  But $50 is probably enough for that crowd.  For the core gamers, they will probably own both consoles eventually, even if they don't think so today.  Like Kitler says, if M$ dropped the price enough, people will buy it.

If M$ was the all out evil company that many think they are, they would drop the price of the XB1 to $249 and make xbox live free for the first 6 months while packing in Titanfall.  That situation would make the PS4 sales drop like a rock within months.  Sony would have to do something equally insane and they don't have the cash to do it.  Of course, neither would do such a crazy thing.

It is near the end of the end....

This myth that keeps getting perpetuated that a single game will "turn the tide" for the Xbox is getting tiresome. If Titanfall couldn't turn things around, nor a $100 less expensive model without Kinect, nor bundles at ridiculous prices with multiple free games, what makes you think Halo 5 or indeed ANY game will magically make people consider buying one? This "war" is over, Microsoft lost.

I agree with this
