I don't hate Skyward Sword, I don't hate any Zelda games(Except PH, but I don't like to count that game)
I moderately dislike skyward sword's flaws. I loved everything it did good though.

Not saying the first game wasn't good, I'm just turning it around. The greatness of the game didn't come from the game not having fire emblem characters. |
No, the first one was good because people recognize majority of characters and each one was unique.

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe
Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor
Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Congratulations.
I, on the other side, was one of those that didn't liked the new ones and loved the ones released before. Of course that stoped with Skyward Sword as I learned to appreciate each one to the point of understanding that every Zelda I have played is good and not to overreact to the point of say one sucks donkey balls.

So you are calling these new characters irrelevant because no one recognizes them?
Let's think about this for a second. Earthbound didn't gain popularity until later in it's life. (Can't present decent sales figures because VGChartz doesn't have them) Yet we still got ness, and people loved him.
The thing is, people may not recognize these characters now, but they will recognize them later, and they will love playing as them. That's literally how all fire emblem characters are. You are upset because you don't have any personal gain because all you love is zelda. You need to open your mind and put it into perspective. Smash Bros is a huge marketing strategy.

No?
I liked to play as Ness despite not knowing him. Or as Kirby.
Playing as these two new characters is like playing as Ike or Marth. If you are going to brought unknown characters at least make them different. For example Ice Climbers.

Thank you for helping my argument @bolded
...Dude, have you even seen the trailer? Sure Lucina is a lot like Marth, but Robin is nothing like the two. He could be a unique character in his own right.

All this talk about who's important or whatever, that's not even the purpose of the game. The game wouldn't be as interesting if it weren't for all these characters from lesser known franchises mixed in. And 4 characters from FE does sound like a lot, but if you count how many characters have already been revealed, you could see that the roster is already quite large and still has a few characters to go before it's done.

It's almost like people react to things differently. Which BTW renders words like Zelda-cycle misleading and useless.
I LOVE ICELAND!

Of course! The Fire Emblem Characters seem to a have similar moveset though, so i dont really see the point in 4 characters. I personally thing zelda should have much more characters like midna or ghirahim, because they could give them unique movesets. Ice Climbers arent really well known, but they became part of smash bros. for me! I'd be surprised if they arent back! |
Marth and Ike didn't play similarly in Smash, and Robin looks to be unique from both of them focusing on magic. Lucina and Marth are the only ones who are similar, but they likely did that to squeeze in another character without having to do a ton of work.
