Forums - Sales - Ubisoft selling over twice as many units on PS4 than Xbox One

Well if you act as if your game is only on Playstation or if you tell owners of other systems that they get less content for the same price it's no wonder that people on other systems don't buy your games so much. Isn't that the reason why Sony pays Ubisoft to do that? Otherwise these payments would be totally useless.

I said that before, advertisement isn't there for nothing and if you don't advertise your game enough on other platforms, owners of these platforms will care less about your games. That's especially the case for new franchises where you have to let the average Joe know about your game first and let him think it's something special. Not so much if a console has already 5 games of that franchise and only the sixth game will get exclusive advertisement but for a game like Watch Dogs it makes a big difference.

Not to forget the gap in console sales obviously.

You act all cool now, but when you were predicting, you said 4,5 million on PS4 and 3 million on X1. Now that IS moving goals!

even though this info was in some threads yesterday, it's funny that you state that it is selling twice as much on the PS4 as the XB1. Ther source info doesn't actually state that it only states that as a company, The sales of all of it's software is higher(36%) on the PS4 than the XB1 (17%).

I was confused at first, because it's quite obvious that 36 is over twice as much as 17. But I think you're focusing on Watch_Dogs only (the "it" in your first sentence). Am I correct about that? Well, couldn't it be inferred from that, that WD sold twice as many on PS4? It was close to that in the UK (49% vs 27%) and VGC numbers paint an even uglier picture.

And considering that Watch_Dogs was the only (retail) software that Ubisoft released on PS4 and XBone this past fiscal quarter, couldn't that be inferred to mean Watch_Dogs? Unless you think Child of Light and Valiant Hearts did so much better on PS4 (did those games even sell that much?) that it's skewing the statistics, and PS4 Watch_Dogs didn't significantly outsell the XBone version.

If you weren't focused on Watch_Dogs, then ignore my post.

Trailing back to the post that I was refering to, yes it was refering to Watchdogs.  But only becasue that was the point.  THe numbers released are not for a particualr game.  I don't disagree that they don't have a lot of other meaningful stuff out there to muddle the numbers.  But, we don't know what other marketing or distribution deals are out there.

It is near the end of the end....

It is quite crazy given the sales differance that so many choose the Microsoft moneyhat. People are not as stupid as these companies think. They will see that the likes of Ubisoft are giving extras and ask why given the sales differance. I wouldn't be suprised to see AC Unity sells half as many as last year on PS4 because of it. That will be onto a system that will have sold well over 9m compared to last years 2m ish units sold. That won't be down purely to AC fatigue either.

There are a lot of games coming out this October and November, and plenty of people will be looking for reasons of which to buy this year, and which ones to wait for next years summer drought and the $25 bargain bin. I bet in hindsight when Plants V zombies bombs coming into a crowded game launch window on PS3-4, Ea will regret accepting that paycheck, and selling 2-3 times more copies instead on Sony's consoles.

Well theres no way PVZ is going to sell well, and strangely enough EA have been doing a summer sale on it on XBO also, which wouldnt make anyone want to pay full price for it on PS4.

Those deals were made when people were expecting XB1 to outsell the PS4.   It is going to be harder for MS to convince people to make exclusive or timed-exclusive deals, when PS4 titles are selling twice what XB1 does.

I don't think the point of the article, though, was only about Watch_Dogs. It was that all of Ubisoft's titles that sold this past quarter, PS4 sold twice as many total units as XBone. Whether 1 game sold 100 on XBone and 1 on PS4, but another games sold 1 on XBone, and 201 on the PS4, resulting in 202 units of software of PS4 and 101 for XBone, it doesn't matter about the one particular game. Especially because that's not what the article says nor does the quarterly report say. It just says that PS4 sold twice as much software as XBone.

The bit about WD was just to confirm, per se, what the quarterly report said, since in the UK, the PS4 version nearly doubled up the XBone version

Just wait for Destiny to hit shelves. The install base for ps4 is higher. So, this was expected.
