i can accept that online multiplayer requires an internet connection,.. there is an obvious reason for the need for an online connection and an obvious benefit in certain types of gameplay.

if ms wants to do cloud process they better be able to communicate a clear reason and obvious benefit.

and lol and those trying to link psnow steaming as an additional method to purchasing games to the idea of cloud processing being integrated into a game's single player mode making an internet connection the only option. if you can see such a massively, significant difference between the destiny dlc vs the dozens of other platform exclusive content coming in the next year surely you can see the difference here...

I thought that the fully destructible environments of Crackdown (3) seemed to be a big benefit.

Fully destructable environments are impossible. Notice PC games don't do it.

it's possible, just doesn't have much of an impact on gameplay, unless they can prove it does.

So far battlefield has proven scripted destruction can make a game fun, but can blowing stuff up for the sake of it add to the value of gameplay, i dunno.

I have never seen complete destruction in a game. There are always limits. This is just more BS from MS PR team to make it sound exciting just like theu did when they claimed any object can be scanned by the then code named Kinect (Project natal(), or Milo. Remember Milo? And Xbox fans keep falling for the okie doke. What did ever happen to Milo, those Kinect hyrbid games, smart glass and elumniroom? MS never delivers on their promises period.

If you get rid of the destruction particles like earth defense force then its possible, but yeah i reckon thats scripted too.

Because they never deliver on what they say. See my previous post. Then they lied about not dumping hardcore games for casual games when Kinect released.

Where did they say that ?

I guess you were not paying attention abck when Kinect first launched. Google it.

At this point microsoft should pretty much do what sony is doing for PR. Everythings going wrong for them, this and the xbox one dev kits news. They're confused.

Microsoft has come back into the fight by copying Sony's every move. If they listened to themselves and continued to do so they would've sold less than the Wii U.

The burden of proof is on you and what does kinect have to do with this ?

The fight was over before it begin. The PlayStation is the biggest brand in gaming history, which is why the PS3 outsold the 360. MS copying Sony should be expected though. Afer all, the Xbox has always been a generic PlayStation. Which is why I never have and never will own one. The 360 was just a fluke and things are now back to normal.

No the burden is on their fans who keep getting duped lol. Kinect is not the point, but the false promises are. That is why I brought up Kinect. Don't be niave.

Here is an old article though rofl

http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-promise-that-new-hardcore-kinect-titles-are-incoming

Microsoft promises that new "hardcore" Kinect titles are incoming

According to Microsoft’s Kevin Unangst, it may soon be time to wipe off the dust from your Xbox 360 Kinect devices and get prepared for a host of new “hardcore” Kinect titles that are due for release later this year.

According to an interview conducted on the website CVG, Unangst, Microsoft’s senior producer of the company’s entertainment business, stated that there will be more and more core games on the way, and that this month's spring showcase of titles was just the beginning of what will be heading gamers' way.

Regarding the lack of titles that have shown up for Kinect since launch, Unangst said, “This is sort of scratching the surface of what's happening, but we've got Child of Eden here today, we've got Twisted Pixel's Gunstringer... and certainly you're going to see more.”

In a previous interview with CVG, Kevin Unangst also said that 2011 will be an incredible year for hardcore gamers in general on the Xbox 360, with games such as Batman: Arkham City, Homefront and more on the way. However, he failed to mention that they are multi-platform games too.

Either way, it looks as if there are a lot of unannounced core titles due for release on Xbox 360 Kinect over the course of the year, which is good news all round for gamers, especially with so few new titles having been officially announced so far. As Unangst says, "This is just the beginning."

I think he's referring to the time when Microsoft had a drought of exclusives but were supporting the Kinect's launch from 2010-2012. They made excuses for their lack of exclusives dodging the fact that their internal studios dont pump out as much as the competition. It made it look like left to their own devices they couldn't make much of anything or they had completely leaped onto crowd Nintendo found.

And PS now is brought up, as expected. Nevermind the fact it's only PS3 games. Or that you can still buy a physical copy of those same games if you want to, thus making it entirely optional. Or that you don't need to buy a console to play the games.

Of course.  You can't criticize MS without bringing out the Sony Too brigade.  But, you are exactly right.  That is Sony's solution to backwards compatability for PS3, since the architectures are so different, as well as offering the games on multiple platforms.  It has nothing to do with forcing people to connect to the internet to access the "power of the Cloud" on current gen games.  But, hey, when you don't have an agrument, make up your points.

Of course, smart people who aren't looking to kiss MS's butt will realize this is just another way to do Always Online.  Or, at the very least, "if you don't have access to the internet or a good connection, your $60 game is now gimped."  And MS fans really think the One is going to make a comeback?  Not with MS and their horrid policies at the helm.

Can we please leave PS NOW out of this. It is no way the same. PS NOW is optional, you can still buy and play your games in stores and offline.

But anyways this thread is becoming so stupid. No matter how many times things get explained, repeatedly, the MS loyalist will never accept it and spin things off to try and accuse sony of doing the same or worst. We are just going round and round repeating the same argumets.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

PSNow - rent a PS3 (or older) game and stream it to your console, handheld, tablet, TV...and whichever device.

MS Cloud - Buy an XOne game disc, disconnect console from internet, use disc as a coaster.
That was an idea 14 months ago, that is obviously still alive, despite the series of desperate 180s. Once they lose all hope at seriously expanding the user base, they will have nothing to lose by milking existing users for more money.
Had people with enough common sense not started ridiculing them, that would already be the case, with those few "true fans" still finding a reason to defend Microsoft.

My guess it will start slowly, by mandating cloud saves and unlocking achievements only while online, by offering "better experience" while connected then silently taking away the "worse experience" option, by justifying another subscription fee increase because of all the new features.
It will be up to the XOne user base to resist at that time, because I doubt that the internet will fight their fight again for the second time.

Sadly, judging by the comments in here, they won't fight.  They'll sit there, ask MS for more, and defend them to the end.  Of course, this means their install base is going to be much smaller, but I guess that doesn't matter to them.  Whatever MS says, goes.
