What these gamers say on forums =/= General reception in reality 

If almost all of the opinions were consistent with market responses then there would be no such thing "overrated" or "underrated" in the first place.

Aren't we talking about underrated among "core gamers" (i.e people who post in forums)? or are we talking about mainstream public generally speaking? If it's the latter then the Gamecube isn't underrated neither because most probably people don't even remember it XD, if we're talking about how the Gamecube was received among mainstream back when it released and some years later, then we can say it's underrated.

It's not a problem if you read reviews beforehand so you know what you're getting into, and only play what sounds relevant to your interests. How is that any different than any game on every console ever?

Most of the good third party games made for the hardcore gamer crowd let you forego motion controls entirely, and many even gave you the option to play with a Classic Controller. There are a few that required motion input, like Okami, Zak & Wiki, and Red Steel 2, but if you have a problem with motion controls in games like those, that's a "you" problem, and I question why you ever bothered to own a Wii at all. Okami was truly enhanced by motion controls and turned combat from a button masher into a timing and rhythmic brawler, and painting actions more seamless and natural. If you take the motion controls out of Red Steel 2, you have no game.

There was a lot of crap that was born from motion controls, but anyone who thinks it never enhanced any games is only kidding themselves.

By the way, when I say "you," I don't mean at oniyide, I mean "you" in general.

 The Wii is the most underrated Nintendo console right now, but will get the recognition it deserves in the future.

N64.

It was able to produce graphics so much more advanced than anything on PS1 and Saturn and it pioneered 3D gameplay. It had a great selection of exclusive software. Nintendo debuted a lot of their IPs, and developed/published games in a wide range of genres that appealed to not only the Nintendo fan; like extreme sports, realistic sport games and FPS. It was the only console at the time that did FPS right, with GoldenEye, Perfect Dark and the Turok franchise. Rareware helped Nintendo out during the infamous game droughts, and they were possibly the greatest developers in the world at the time. Local multiplayer was never better.
The games released towards the end of its lifespan looked incredible, sometimes with the help of the Expansion Pak. I remember Jet Force Gemini being one of the last games I played, while Oni (made by Bungie) was one of the first PS2 games I played - and JFG looked a lot better (I'm not saying that the N64 was comparable to the PS2).

It had a lot of obvious drawbacks though, like expensive games, few releases and few good RPGs, 2D platformers, driving sims and beat 'em ups. I still remember it far more fondly that the GameCube (and I had a cool black one).

Have you ever owned one? Im not saying its the best Nintendo console, but it was pretty cool and had some amazing games.
