It was really smart of Sony to include a touchpad, but I Believe developers to be way to conservative to use it other than for niche things like making commands or such things.

Voice controls still work, even if the developer utilizes the resources allocated for Kinect.
Microsoft has already pointed this out.

I thought they said system-level commands, like xbox record that, xbox switch to etc. but not in-game commands if they decide too use the extra power
The touchpad is awesome. Best addition to a controller in a long time
btw voice commands work on PS4 too, TR:DE does it. Don't even need the PS camera.

Everything I have read says that voice commands still work, just not motion. All the compuational reserves were doing was skeleton tracking your body so that if you needed to do a motion command, it was ready. Voice commands are a whole different animal. You can do voice commands with a head set if you want to, all you need is a microphone. It is just a matter of developers implementing the feature...

It may be possible, but it's NOT implemented currently. You HAVE to use Kinect for voice commands. Yes, I am sure that the developers COULD re-write the code to get it to work (after all, Sony made it work), but you have ZERO chance of seeing that, as MS loves their Kinect, and the stuffed suits won't back down on their position that it's needed for voice commands.

yeah it might help on vita more because the thumb sticks are not as good as analogue sticks, but that doesnt mean it would make controlling shooters better on PS3 and PS4. I'm sure most people who got used to it wouldnt be able to go back, especially bolt action Sniper users.
what exactly is the point in having infinite "input" when you break your bones when you try to press alot of things fast while trying to be precise?
Its not like you have alot of control on a touchpad expecially not when its a multitouch when you are in a hurry. Even more so on a multitouch thats not even a screen. Before I know what to press I would be faster pressing something like L1/LB (which would make ABXY or [ ] X ^ O get alternate functions) and then press what I want to do)
It only works for simple stuff like zooming etc. here its pretty useful. It also makes browsing much better than analog stick browsing etc. But fast+precise control in games is a joke on a touchpad with no screen.
Most games are way to restricted anyway. Just compare it to a keyboard and how many games use more than 30 out of the 100 keys.

the stuffed suit that loved kinect was mattrick. Kinect was his baby, but he is gone now. Phil spencer doesn't seem to have much interest at all in pushing kinect down people's throats. I wouldn't be surprised to see voice commands on xbox without kinect soon.

Mattrick may be gone, but there are PLENTY of other executives that were part of his team that are still there and still pushing the "old" vision. You still see it in comments from Phil too...like "we are sure most people are going to want a Kinect", etc. They may have released a Kinectless sku, but make no mistake, they are still pushing it...even to the point of touting 2 Kinect games during E3!
