Starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find arguments as to why one console is superior to the other I see...

How about the fact that the PS4 comes in a blue box?.....or that the XB1 has a larger instruction manual?

Seriously? He is discussing controls that can be used to directly affect game play. Your analogy fails at making a cogent point with regard to the discussion and you are in danger of derailing the conversation.

OT: It is my hope developers will make more use of the extra controls available on the DS4. Destiny for instance. As of now gestures are mapped to the D-pad. Imagine if they used the touchpad. Instead of four basic gestures you could have many more. I like what Sucker Punch did with the touch pad (and the Sixaxis controls turning your controller into a spray paint can) in making the player use the touch pad to perform the qucik time events and such as opposed to the most popular use which is the map. Of course, it works well as a map button but can be so much more.

I think with sixaxis and the touch pad there are so many uses we just need good implementation of them and so far there have only been a few as far as the motion controls go. All that said, Sony has to cultivate these controls so that the development community at large can see the benefit before choosing to gamble on them and so far Sony has, at best, done a marginal job to this point.

the stuffed suit that loved kinect was mattrick.  Kinect was his baby, but he is gone now.  Phil spencer doesn't seem to have much interest at all in pushing kinect down people's throats.  I wouldn't be surprised to see voice commands on xbox without kinect soon.

Mattrick may be gone, but there are PLENTY of other executives that were part of his team that are still there and still pushing the "old" vision.  You still see it in comments from Phil too...like "we are sure most people are going to want a Kinect", etc.  They may have released a Kinectless sku, but make no mistake, they are still pushing it...even to the point of touting 2 Kinect games during E3!

well, it is still their product, they are still going to market it and support it.  However, there is a difference between supporting a product and forcing people to use a product.

I think the new leadership at xbox has promise, but I could be wrong.  I guess we will see as this gen moves forward.  Everything I have seen since phil took over has me optimistic though.

Then why not include the WiiU Gamepad in this discussion? Its because it would win hands down and we wouldnt want that to ever happen. Give me a break...

Then inject THAT into the conversation. Instead you chose a nonsequitor. Make your case.

I don't doubt you, it would win hands down, but its got another factor that is yet unresolved in that it's not getting third party games.

When a game is announced, if no platforms are mentioned, we know ITS PS4 OR ITS XBOX ONE OR PC OR ALL THREE or some combination of that, we have to wait for wii u to be announced seperately with delayed lazy ports.

I'm talking about in the future here, so when gamnes like assassins creed unity, far cry, batman arkham knight all aren't announced, I cant really include it. At least until they get good third party games so that you can discuss, minus visuals, is the wii u gamepad a limiting/non-limiting factor etc.

Ok

WiiU:

8 Action buttons

1 System button

2 Menu buttons

2 Analog sticks

4-point D-Pad

A touch screen

Gyroscope

Accelerometer

A Camera

A Microphone

Near Field Communication chip

Yeah, the Gamepad can do alot:)

Xbox one without kinect has no voice commands now. So devs can't map additional features onto voice gestures for example varieties of taunts in-game.

Wrong:

-voice commands works with headset (so with no kinect, headset can still read your voice commands)

-voice recognision is part of kinect that is working even when kinect usage is off to save gpu power. So, devs can use max gpu power for game, and still use voice recognision features. They only can't use skeleton tracking.

As of ps4, the voice recognision API is now poor and slow, making it not really good enough  to use. But it's said sdk devs are working hard on it, so it may improve significantly. While Sony is slow in intruducing new features for end user in firmware, they've done lots of work for underlaying code for developers.

Well we are talking hypothetically here anyway. Maybe the WiiU will get better third party support and maybe developers wont use the extra features of the PS4 controller.

Oh yes! Gaming superiority is all about the buttons yo!  Its why this is the best selling, most godlike, batman motherfucking controller ever!!!!

Buttons bitch!

A fair list, and obviously with touch screen you can have a virtually unlimited inputs screen.
Hmm camera as an input for gameplay... arguable since we dont have a game yet that does an action when we blink, but i'm certain a dev can programme a game with speech recognition using mic.
Also NFC arguable since that requires additional purchase out of the box, but certainly if a game decides to include a NFC figurine(s) with the game then yeah.
Otherwise you can't really interact with the NFC chip, it's not really an input feature as a technology within the gamepad.
