It would mean that investors aren't stupid which is very good. Iwata isn't talking about 3DS and Wii U as if they are going to be the future. Investors seem to realize that the core of Nintendo's recent problems is that Iwata gave too much freedom to other people, and that Iwata is already taking measures to change the thinking within the company.

Miyamoto and Takeda are the ones who are directly in charge of software and hardware; with Miyamoto also having major influence on hardware as Nintendo's software usually dictates what the hardware is going to be.

The approval ratings also fall in line with what has been said at January's investors briefing.

Iwata: "We [Nintendo] have failed."
Miyamoto: "I do not think that we [the software department] have failed."

So you think it's something to do with Iwata admitting to making mistakes and doing things to correct them while people like Miyamoto are being bullish and insisting they are doing everything right?

Interesting perspective and I guess we haven't seen what Iwata's plan actually is, have the investors though?

Nintendo's a public company, anything they show their investors can be seen by us.

Eh, it's not that hard to be a nice user! I was kinda cranky yesterday thanks to the lack of World Cup matches though....

I thought Nintendo showed some good things at E3, but I think the game industry for one isn't really a great business to begin with anymore.

No one is really making great money here.

Secondly, for home consoles, I think people only want bigger blockbuster centric titles to play on their big screen TVs.

And Nintendo just isn't the company that compete and win in that race. Normally that would be OK if they had a stable handheld market to fall back upon, but that's being eroded away with kids getting hooked on iOS gaming. So you have basically nothing in the middle that's successful.

I think Nintendo's future is more along the lines of amiibo and becoming more toy-centric. I could see them branching out into movies too like LEGO has been able to.
