Forums - Sony - Sony is in danger of becoming arrogant? Gamezone explains...

Yes it is because the fact that TLOU is 1 year old actually increases its value, it doesn't diminish it. And that's being objective. TLOU is more expensive than any of the Halo games because the Halo games are older. TLOU+DLC costs as much as buying the 4 Halo games separately. Same reason why GOTY editions get released at full price. The original release is "fairly recent" and the games are still being sold at a medium-high price. Though those don't even improve the visuals (understandable because it's usually the same platform). So both releases are in a similar situation and it's up to each person to decide which one they want/like more.

I disagree. If you say TLOU Remastered is the better value, then you are biased towards TLOU or against Halo. If you love or dont like both franchises, then you can clearly see that the MC Collection is the better buy. Its 1 game vs 4.

I didn't say it's better value, I said it's mostly the same thing. Being that "mostly" is variable according to people's preference

1 game vs 4 doesn't mean anything. Is MS releasing a collection of 4 2013 games? No. It's older, cheaper games. Sony released 4 remastered god of war games for the same price as MCC too. Let's not pretend MS would do anything differently. If Halo 5 had released in 2013 for the 360 and they were porting it now to XB1 they'd release it at 50-60 bucks. No doubt about that. No offense but people are just moving goal posts around to attack Sony because of their current leadership position. One can easily make other jabs such as releasing Wind Waker HD at full price even though it was still 30fps like the gamecube version...but people don't want to talk about that, do they?

And of course, let's forget that Sony keeps giving free DLC content for Shadow Fall, is going to release its Co-op as standalone (just 10 bucks) so people don't have to buy the game to play it, same for Infamous DLC. On top of what I already said about PS+. Yeah, damn Sony, not doing anything right /sarcasm.

For now I think Sony is just a little bit too confident, but the line is thin between confident and arrogant.
Raising the price in Canada to "follow the market value" but not lowering the price in the UK to "follow the market value" shows a lot confidence, a little bit of arrogance probably.

Releasing a remastered, effectively GOTY edition of a game for $50 is "price gouging"...even when pretty much all GOTY versions of games do the same thing (and nobody seems to have a problem with it) and the original game still goes for about $40 at retail? Ok.

I dont care about the MS vs Sony debate. Im just saying the MCC is the better buy for someone whos unbiased towards both games. If you dont see that, then I sure as hell wont convince you...

Why buy a WiiU???

That was a pointless remark at the end. There is no reason to buy a WiiU if you are not a Nintendo nostalgic fan.

Going to the point of arrogance. Yes Sony possitioned themselves as the "paladins" that would save the hardcore console market.

Did they save any thing?

I don´t think so. Traditional consoles are dying. After the initial sucess the PS4 sales are stalling more that one would expect.

It´s not even a matter of more or less games. Their arrogance has not move one extra console or one extra smartphone.

Well the signs are allready emerging. They are still taking PR shots at MS in 2014 where as Xbox reps are largely praising Sony/Nintendo. You have the $60 cash grab LOU remastered compared to the value-rich Master Chief Collection. PS4 PS+ games are nowhere as numerous or good (lack of AAA) as PS3 PS+ games. PS Now rental prices = WTF.

I dunno, seems Sony is starting to take advanatge of winning and price gouging where they can in subtle ways.  They are lucky their fans are doing most of the heavy lifting to preserve the notion that Sony loves them unconditionally.

You know, this post is kinda pissing me off. Have you ever heard of a Goty edition? That is what TLOU RE is, it's an amped up Goty edition: $50, better graphics and all the DLC (which in itself is sold for about $50, I think). I have literally never seen anybody ever complain about those, but as soon as it can be used in the console wars, people latch onto it: "Oh it's such a cash grab, is this even necessary?" (Btw, yes it is, people were asking for it, so why not give it to them)

Nobody is saying anything about GTA V doing basically the same, but with TLOU it's suddenly a huge issue.

Also are you seriously taking the lack of AAA games on the PS4s PS+ as a sign of arrogance? Could you be reaching a little more, maybe? The system is only just a couple months old, how much do you expect Sony to pay publishers to release a couple months old AAA PS4 game on PS+ for free? That's not being arrogant, it's just not being crazy.

Well theres no reason to buy a PS4 yet, unless you love having no games to play...

I think the article writer should be very careful about how he writes these. Talking up the WiiU at the end of an article that supposed to be about Sony makes you look biased and like you wrote the article as part of an agenda. If it isn't directly related to the subject at hand (and it wasn't, it was tangential at best) then you should just leave it out and you can make another article about how everyone should get a WIiU.

It's also possible that the author is an Xbox fan that simply used the "Buy Wii U" commment to distract people from that fact. :-p
