Couldn't be more wrong. Console gaming is in decline, but PC gaming is dying.

How many times does PC development of a game get sidelined to the point where the game is virtually unplayable at launch.

Watch Dogs was so poor on PC at launch and after 2 weeks of no suitable update my friend sold his gaming PC and borught a PS4 instead.

No surprise there. Instead of playing an unoptimized game I would rather play a game in a system that is decently optimized. Good decision.

PC gaming is like the IKEA of the gaming industry. You buy the game, but you have to make it playable yourself or wait for someone to do it for you...

Consoles are still leading PC's in sales of multiplats and PC's will be considered secondary for it in terms of sales for many large publishers. If this is what you think there will be many more generations of "consoles need to stop holding PC gaming back" because it will happen.

Except for the development and portability concerns, why would any console gamer care about what architecture is inside the consoles? I have friends who would never ever touch a PC to play games. They just don't like PC Gaming and its hurdles. I personally do not play the latest games on PC either, it is just too much drama. I don't have time for it. The console gaming is easy, convenient, trouble-free, straightforward, stable etc... Has many advantages over the PC games (as well as disadvantages of course).

The fact that they have an x86 architecture is irrelevant for PC vs Console for the most part.

I agree a little bit with OP, I think Consoles will survive but as a niche product.
Competition from other devises are much harder today.

I like consoles and PC, but probably use my Ipad or Iphone mord for news, gaiming, streaming and tv.
Look at Japan we will all follow. No of my closest friends buy a console all are tablets, phones or PC.

Still hope I am wrong.
