Forums - Sales - Why Nintendo shouldn't suck up to third parties

It is obvious to anyone with common sense that Nintendo IS NOT the best developer in the world. Their online is subpar (They even choose AGAINST in game chat for a team-based competitive shooter!!) and I doubt they could even create a game on the same level as Elder Scrolls, Witcher, Minecraft or even Destiny.

Until they prove that they can then there is no way to begin claiming them to be the best. The notion is just silly.

Common sense? According to whom is it common sense and what is it based on? Also, using that common sense, who is the best developer in the world. Their online has been subpar yes, but online is but one element and is not featured in every single game so it would be silly to use that as some kind of deciding factor. Discrediting developers for subpar gameplay, uninspired level design, boring art style, poor visuals or releasing products with significant bugs would be just as valid.

It seems like you're using your own opninion and preferences to define this level that Nintendo needs to surpass. For many Nintendo has already made games that surpass those (or those games never beat Nintendo's offerings to begin with). Now, it's perfectly fine for you to believe that Nintendo is incapable of reaching that "level" but that doesn't mean that everyone has to share that belief. And thus there's nothing silly about regarding Nintendo as the greatest, unless people claim it to be fact or "common sense".

Nintendo has themselves to blame for their third party situation. So stop making it seem like everyone is out to get them.

Please tell us what Nintendo did?

I only see three possible ways for Nintendo to stay relevant in the console business;
1) Either make a good enough console 3rd parties are content with and wants to make games for. They don't have to sell crazy numbers to be satisfied.
2) Make a new gimmick like the Wii to sell
3) Expand or buy another publisher so they can make more games to avoid these droughts.

I'd go with option #3. Having more development teams would give them more control and would also make them more futureproof.

Personally I'd like to see a combination of all three ^^ I would love to get more 3rd party games on Nintendo's consoles, because no matter what Rol says, there is A LOT of good games not made by Nintendo. He's just plain wrong on that account. But I wouldn't mind seeind Nintendo expanding and take over Megaman and/or Sonic either, and perhaps open up a Western daughter publisher that makes more mature content.

tl;dr: nintendo treated third parties like shit on Nes/Snes era.And even when they were losing to sony(ps1/Ps2 era) they still treated third parties like useless peasants.(they actually called third parties useless 10+ years ago)

Well yeah, it's not like it would hurt Nintendo to have a few 3rd parties on board, as long as they don't become too dependant on them. I really wouldn't mind if they opened up their wallet to save Timesplitters or make that Xenosaga trilogy.

I actually dont think its POSSIBLE for Nintendo to become depended on 3rd party titles. Sure those games could help Nintendo out, but they will never be as important as they are to Sony/MS
