Good call, just scoop it up and trade the game in now. No point slogging through all 5 minutes of a bad intro to get to the rest of the game -- which, from the sound of things, you've pretty much finished already.

Seriously, just stop playing right now and take the game back to wherever you bought it. You said you honestly don't know if you're going to keep playing, let me help you with that decision. Don't keep playing.

Yes. You are probably right. After that the only thing that will happen is that they realize all the paintings on the wall are real soldiers.

What I am saying is this: the game starts really bad. Do you have anything meaningful to contribute or just some mild sarcasm?

Lol, I remember I was at the first dungeon in a matter of 15 minutes, JUST LIKE Alttp. Aftet you get to the first dungeon, you only have pne cutscene every two dungeons.

Not true. aLttp had fighting starting 1 minute after you started the game. there were like 4 sentences said until you had to go through a palace full of enemies to save  the princess. the only person you had interacted with up to this point was dead. you were alone. it was dark. it rained. you just wanted to sit down and cry. but it was too damn wet for that.

oh, and those 4 sentences were more story than the whole gibberish that I just skipped over.

So you consider the Hyrule Castle intro the "first dungeon"? If not, how is what I said "not true"? If so, then I disagree. When I think of Alttp I dont't think of its beginning, yes it is a nice setting, but it certainly wasnt the memorable gameplay that I loved from the game. Also ALBW is not ALTTP, despite the similarities. The game has a thematic difference, and different story, and therefore starting with a dark and lonely theme makes very little sense, considering the plot.

of course hyrule castle was the first enemy encounter where you had to wade through hordes of evil guards to get out of that place. It was even the stronghold of some guy calle Aghanim or some such. You know, the second most evil guy in that game?

That is not what I said. You and I both know that the word "dungeon" means something specific in The Legend of Zelda, and I specifically used that word when I said it only too me fifteen minutes to reach the first dungeons in both games.

I played ALBW first and now I'm playing ALTTP and anyone saying ALTTP is better than ALBW is blinded by nostalgia. The puzzles and dungeons in ALBW are a lot better than ALTTP.

I visited her. what does she tell me. GO FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO TALK TO!

Stupid chick.

And what does that one tell me? GO FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO TALK TO!

Bastard.

I have now crossed 50% of hyrule in finding people to talk to. The map feels now much smaller than in aLttp, where I spent ages fighting my way out of one castle, going through underground caverns etc.

And there was no one to talk to. now there is like hundreds of talky bastards around.

Are you already at an age when Alzheimer starts to kick in?

In ALttP the priest tells you to go to Kakariko to talk to Sahasrahla. He isn't at home, so you actually have to ask around in the village until an NPC tells you to go the East Palace to meet Sahasrahla (who you are still supposed to talk to). You see, the same route is used in both games.

The start of the game is better in ALttP compared to ALBW (Hyrule Castle vs. blacksmith apprentice errand plus visiting Zelda), but from the priest/Zelda onwards, both games have identical pacing.

By that time I had been wading through blood and spent time in a village where people tried to sell me to the evil guards. I still felt alone in an threatening world. I didnt have a job nor an identity really. I was just me.

Now I am a blacksmith apprentice.

And next time I will be a hair dresser, or worse, Tingle.

Alright, now you've moved from legitimate complaining to outright trolling.

Carry on.

I think you get what I mean. This is not the world I was expecting. Alttp was hostile all around. this is a happy place with no threat. It sets a very odd tone in the beginning and doesnt feel like an adventure.

It sets a very different tone. One I was not expecting and dont like at all.

Yup, I said the same thing. The start of the game is weak. Which is funny, because a lot of gamers and reviewers praised the game for its quick start. That's telling for how far Zelda has fallen with its overboarding intro sections.

Once you've visited Zelda, leave the castle and the iconic overworld music kicks in, the game starts for real and aligns with how things were in ALttP.

I blame this on the constant complaining that zelda needs more "story". The story in alttp was perfect as in: "shit just got real, and you better figure out quickly what is going down right now." thats my type of story.

It's the new-school approach to storytelling, so there is a buildup that classic games skipped (they got straight to the point). You've already made it past the worst point of the game, so swing your butt into the East Palace, get that heart container and then go to Ravio to rent all items. Afterwards you can go where you want, because ALBW gives you more freedom than ALttP. The tone also changes over time.

EDIT: I see you quoted me again while I was typing this post. Yes, we are on the same page.

that is good to hear. now i just need a good idea on how to enter that dungeon...

oh well, tomorrow is another day.

Pretty much. I thought the intro was fine and the was in the first "dungeon" in 15 minutes, but that's just me. It isn't as urgent as ALttP, but it isn't worst off for it. And it's not like ALttP's into is much better, if we're being honest. It isn't best seller writing.

The writing was much better. as in: there was none. Much better that way. Games need to re-focus on gaming, imo. not on bad story telling.
