It sets a very different tone. One I was not expecting and dont like at all.

It's the new-school approach to storytelling, so there is a buildup that classic games skipped (they got straight to the point). You've already made it past the worst point of the game, so swing your butt into the East Palace, get that heart container and then go to Ravio to rent all items. Afterwards you can go where you want, because ALBW gives you more freedom than ALttP. The tone also changes over time.
