Just because one chooses to sell stuff to help pay for other stuff doesn't mean they don't have a job. In fact I would counter the smartest of working consumers do just that. They are disciplined enough to recoup some of the cost of ownership by reselling an item and then use that to help offset the cost of another item thereby mitigating a portion of the impact on their money.
I have a great job and I ALWAYS sell my old consoles (sometimes like with my 360 I sell them before they are old) to help pay for my new console purchases even though I could afford to just keep them and buy another if I so desired. It helps me stay on budget and allows me to keep on gaming while not wasting more money than I otherwise would. Seriously, put that money into a mutual fund or some type of savings instead of stocking up on old dusty hardware that your wife will eventually start nagging you about anyway. Saves on headaches IMHO. Not to mention you lower the price barrier for others trying to get into a console down the road. Sold my PS3 on ebay with some great games and they paid around $200 for the whole lot! They got a deal and I got half of my PS4 funded. WIn, Win.
