Forums - Nintendo - Do you see Nintendo revealing a new IP with a Zelda scale budget in the next 3 years?

They never said that,  some supposed rumor - obviously now false - said that. Since we don't know their budgets we can't really get into that. In terms of scope of the game and effort, no, of course not. Zelda is their benchmark series. It's like asking if Chevy will make a car faster than the Corvette. Close to Zelda? Sure. The next 3D Mario or maybe Retro or Monolith games, though Xenoblade releasing next year probably means nothing by 2017.

Smash bandicoot > Jack and Daxter > Uncharted > The Last of US

Ratchet > Resistence

Prince of Persia > Assassins Creed

Knights of the Old Republic > Mass Effect

Watchdogs

Titanfall

Division

The Order 1886

Gears of War

People throwing everything budget wise at new IPs is not unheard of. When publishers trust in the devs, its a big opportunity lost if they only ever work on established IPs which tend to decline in popularity over time.

Nintendo and Sony crossover?

As for ratchet and resistance, how big was the difference in budget from Resistance 1 and R&C A Crack in time?

LMAO my mistake

I don't relly know the budget of Resistence or RC Crack in time, just basing it on percievable value. Scale/Features/Marketing etc

i'd at least buy Smash bandicoot

R&C future trilogy sales>Resistance trilogy sales. That doesn't say anything about budget ofcourse, it just shows us how their budget should have been allocated (although it might just be the R&C fan in me talking here. Haven't tried Resistance yet, I deffinetly want to. How great are they?)

Around the Network

Absolutely. I bet Splatoon has roughly the same budget as Link Between Worlds.

Two words: Hell no.

I WISH!!!!

No way. An IP would have to prove itself on Zelda's level before those sorts of funds would be allocated to it. A new IP would never get that sort of investment.

Around the Network

for me, xenoblade is as big as zelda.
but i wouldnt bet in it.

Arguably Metroid. We know Retro is working on something as we sit here typing, and they're staying tight lipped about it..

Probably not, considering they haven't even done it for their series that sell more than Zelda.
