Forums - Nintendo - Do you see Nintendo revealing a new IP with a Zelda scale budget in the next 3 years?

seeing Xenoblade Xs scale I would say it is pretty close to what Zeldas budget is

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Nope.

Zelda will remain their only "Big" budget series.

What was the budget for the new Zelda they have not completed yet?

We'll never know but they have said that this Zelda is the most they have spent on any game.

They never said that,  some supposed rumor - obviously now false - said that. Since we don't know their budgets we can't really get into that. In terms of scope of the game and effort, no, of course not. Zelda is their benchmark series. It's like asking if Chevy will make a car faster than the Corvette. Close to Zelda? Sure. The next 3D Mario or maybe Retro or Monolith games, though Xenoblade releasing next year probably means nothing by 2017.

Smash bandicoot > Jack and Daxter > Uncharted > The Last of US

Ratchet > Resistence

Prince of Persia > Assassins Creed

Knights of the Old Republic > Mass Effect

Watchdogs

Titanfall

Division

The Order 1886

Gears of War

People throwing everything budget wise at new IPs is not unheard of. When publishers trust in the devs, its a big opportunity lost if they only ever work on established IPs which tend to decline in popularity over time.

Nintendo and Sony crossover?

As for ratchet and resistance, how big was the difference in budget from Resistance 1 and R&C A Crack in time?

Nope. Nintendo is not really known for taking these types of risks!

LMAO my mistake

I don't relly know the budget of Resistence or RC Crack in time, just basing it on percievable value. Scale/Features/Marketing etc

a Metroid Prime scale.......yes.

They don't need to. If they create a new IP, and it keeps growing in popularity, it will eventually get Zelda budget. Example: Super Smash or Mario Kart.

They're never getting a new IP that becomes that popular if it starts off that small. This isn't the SNES/N64 era.

tbh after their 2 WiiU games my answer is NO.

Everything they do is minimalistic prototype tech demo bullshit.

When was the last new IP that had a huge scale? Explorable world etc?

Even Metroid Prime 3 Galaxy2 and Skyward Sword suffered from streamlining and replaces explorable worlds with "chose a level" design. The new Zelda will fix this yes but this is not enough to convince me that Nintendo understands that Gamers want worlds to explore not mini game collections.

Nintendo made alot of games like another code etc. those are quite nice but still lack the scale of a Mario64, Metroid Prime1 or Zelda OOT.

Then no. I do not think they spent much on Wii sports, flingsmash, brain age, nintendogs, splatoon, wii music, pikmin, or anything else in the past two decades either.

Pretty much this. Nintendo doesn't know what AAA means anymore.

X looks like its an attempt of sorts
