What?

My thoughts | |||
| The U won't sell well. | 45 | 33.09% | |
| NSMBU wasn't a good system seller. | 89 | 65.44% | |
| Total: | 134 | ||

Except the fact that every game that has been released for the Wii U didn't rocket the console out of its hole. I mean, you have to be in serious denial to not see this. You are presented with two choices: 1) The Wii U is a piece of trash. You can't pick "Mario Kart 8 is a fantastic game that proved Rol wrong" when the Wii U was boosted to 20k and 35k units in the week of its release in Japan and the USA, respectively. |
I'm not taking sides, because this thread is more dumb than it is not dumb, but that's an oversimplification if I've ever seen one. It's so oversimplified it's almost annoying.

There is more than one aspect to a game. Gameplay is one. If the rest is lame, the art is lame and cheesy and just bad, and the music sucks, it will affect the overall appeal of the game. |
Eh, the entire post seems to just be you not liking NSMB imo.

People really love to jump the gun on judging sales on this website don't they :S.

Still turned a profit without it.
I've got some advice for Nintendo: release some mass market appeal games (or games at all more frequently than one every 3 months) in the first 18 months of your console's life, dumb butts.
NSMB is tired, people love it, but they all look like the same game. I don't know about many others, but seeing NSMBU for the first time I thought "I have this game on Wii and DS". At least MK8 looks like more of an improvement/change.
2D platformers, WarioWare, and Pikmin ain't gonna sell $300+ systems when they don't even use the expensive controller you're trying to sell. The first potential system pusher WiiU got was 3D World a full year after release (still not using the controller). And it's a shame it hasn't been pushing more consoles than it has because that game is a lot of fun and (because I didn't play 3D Land) actually kind of a unique feeling for Mario.
Now over the next month or two we'll see how the next potential pusher, MK8, holds up. I'm starting to feel VGC new weekly data is worth squat beyond general trends; I'll just be looking for Japan numbers and NPD, or any official statements.
Okay, now I got all that complaining out of my system.

I can also add that the gamepad also has a horrible battery life.
Video games are useless things, so yes I do care about useless things.
I don't think I am alone in my opinions either. The hardware just feels like a console from 2006, and it is not priced low enough to be someone's second console (or to forgive its shortcomings). The hardware annoyances also push me to get any multiplatform games on other consoles.

It has 3D Mario, Pikmin, DKC and even a Zelda HD remake. They are more mainstream than Paper Mario and Metroid.

Still a failure from a franchise that sold almost 30m on the Wii no? You can't be happy with that
