Forums - Nintendo - What does Nintendo need to do to win next gen?

Make a non gimmicky console,a modern style SNES controller that would be extremely comfortable, have actual third party support (as much as PS4/XBO), and have the hardware up to date with a reasonable price. Console with Nintendo exclusives+Third Party Games=FREEEEE MONNNEEY

This is why Nintendo won the 4th gen (that is SNES/Gen btw). Nintendo had the exact third party support as Sega and the graphics were comparble.

Actually Nintendo almost lost that generation by following that strategy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a lot Nintnedo could do honestly but I can list somethings I guess I am not getting paid for this or are they following my advice.

1. Have an online shop like Apple. Every single game from every single NIntendo console ever (Yes even Virtual Boy) on the system. Keep the prices but allow one account for all systems like Apple. Want to play Super Mario Bros buy it and you can play it on Wii,Wii U, 3DS and any future Nintendo system.

2. Focus on smaller, new IPs .Splatoon is a good start. It is nice to have sequals to games but only the biggest games should get a lot of sequals. You do not need every game to be an epic one. Have a platformer, have a FPS, have a strategy game. Make new genres or mix them. Make things we have never seen before. We buy new consoles for NEW experiences.  Not every game has to be 3D. Sequals are nice but they should only happen if the game has potential or is in a much needed genre. Variety is needed.  It makes it even eaiser for step 3 to happen

3.Focus on growing the game market and keeping the one you have. The wii was awesome because it had old and new. The Wii U and 3DS suffer for having its biggest games be sequals . Also it does not help that software output has been going down because every game has to have the biggest and best graphics, with this large cintematic pieces. Animal  Crossing or Pokemon don't really focus on that.

4. Screw 3rd parties. They all want to make games that mostly fit the PS/Xbox audience. Nintendo does not make games for them and their system doesn't really need them anyway. The best thing to do is make a new group of 3rd parties that are more likely to make Nintendo like games. The indie scene shows not all games need to be edgy with the biggest budget ever. While it is hard for people to justify to buy games from them that is why we have step 5

5. Not every game should be $60. This would allow smaller games to be made as now companies now won't have to make big games to justify the price tag. Leading to greater output and greater variety. This will allow more companies to publish games.

There that's most of it that I can think of. I refuse to reread it though for grammer mistakes. I just needed this out of my system

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true. 2nd UPDATE: I have no Switch 2. I am now behind

FPS, BLOOD, SEX

No.1 might be a bit unreasonable unless they have some kind of genius gadget/gimmick to drive hardware sales and the R&D can't just whip those up like they're cooking dinner.

But there's nothing wrong with a solid no.2 ... they could have been an OK no.2 this generation with 40-50 million units sold and turned a pretty profit especially with XBox One's weaknesses, but they were too slow, too conservative, and made a console too tailored to the tastes of Japan first (off-TV play as the main selling point to counter people who were playing handhelds more at home IMO).

If they had even just called the thing Super Wii, launched in 2011 (a full two year head start), and just threw a modified 4850 GPU in there (so it would be easy to port Western PC games to at a noticably higher quality than the PS3/360), made the tablet pad an optional accessorie (ala the Wii Fit Balance Board) ... they'd be in an OK spot right now.

They waited too long to make a new console and bet on the wrong gimmick.

They cannot win another generation. Simple as that.

Not when sony is around thats for sure.

I do think they ought to consider 2 year head starts.

A 1 year head start isn't enough for Nintendo because they barely are able to get their big software releases flowing within that about of time. Shifting the console generations and getting "out of sync" with Sony/MS will help Nintendo stand out more because they'll be the "new" console on the block for a longer period of time too.

Sony always win

ignore mainsteamers = quality / gameplay WIN

who cares about sales when everything which is shown in sales numbers is how many people that "believe they are gamers" buy consoles?

Games are for gamers not for mainstreamers.
