I do think they ought to consider 2 year head starts.
A 1 year head start isn't enough for Nintendo because they barely are able to get their big software releases flowing within that about of time. Shifting the console generations and getting "out of sync" with Sony/MS will help Nintendo stand out more because they'll be the "new" console on the block for a longer period of time too.
