As for his retirement, I dunno, but he didn't steal the show here, his little protégés did with Splatoon, hopefully they'll put these guys into more works without Miyamoto, so that they drive the boat in a near future.

I mean, they'll have to. Guy's nearing mandatory retirement age anyway (interestingly, had the Japanese government not passed legislation raising mandatory retirement from 60 to 65 in 2012, he would have had to retire last year). At most he's got until 2018.

Maybe Nintendo does a bit of work sharing (unheard of!) where the Master is responsible to R&D new gameplay mechanics that later get used in real games. That might be a rather useful way to leverage his abilities in a good way for the firm.

Maybe if he created a time machine and went back and programmed ET the game. Other than that his many accomplishments make this thread rather foolish. We have to see the finished product before we can say his new games are not exceptional
