There have been 1,000,000 threads about Nintendo's current state, and what you would do in Iwata's shoes.  People have not been impressed with Nintendo's direction and have wanted them to do things differently.  Now we have just seen e3 (with perhaps more to come over the next couple days) and a tremendous amount of content has been revealed.  We have:

-A cool digital event presentation.

-A very cool-looking, open-world Zelda U.

-X is Xenoblade Chronicles X, and appears to have the same amazing plot-driven gameplay that made Xenoblade 1 the new standard of JRPGs.

-New IP's:  Mario Maker (filling that minecraft niche) and Splatoon ( finally a 3rd person online shooter from Nintendo).

-New takes on classic IP's: Clay Kirby and Wool Yoshi.

-Early looks at more new IP's that use the gamepad: Project Guard and Robot.

-A tease of a new Star Fox.

-The original Bayonetta not only available on Wii U as requested, but included with B2.

-Asymetric Mario Party 10.

-Devil's 3rd exclusive (mature 3rd party IP)

-NFC figures.

It seems like so many requests from fans have been answered, in particular Zelda, Starfox and new IP's (5+ at this e3 alone).  There's also much more online offering, such as Bayonetta 2 multiplayer and Splatoon's online focus.  It also seems clear that rather than abandoning the Gamepad, Nintendo is double-down on it to make Wii U a unique experience.

So are you pleased with Nintendo's direction?  Are there things they need to be doing differently?  Will the ship be righted by these projects?  Is Iwata doing the right thing and is his job safe?

No. I still want him gone. This was all NOA and franchises that would have come back no matter what. Iwata is still a cancer to Nintendo who needs to be surgically removed.

Yes. After the beatdown he put on Reggie, no one wants to fuck with him.

If Iwata thought of that shit then yes, he should be kept, bur if it was Reggie or Someone else, than Iwata should have been fired in 2013

For the console they have to work with, their doing a damn fine job.

Can't fault him for effort this E3. Still think more should have been done sooner. Maybe it was all building up to this.

I guess all anyone can do is wait and see what results E3 and the rest of the year will bring.

I must admit I see him in a new (and better) way since his E3 antics with Reggie. I thought it was well played out.

I don't think that Iwata's position was ever really in all that much danger to begin with.

All they've EVER needed to do about Wii U, was put more games out on it, and advertise it better.

No offense, but if you're gonna talk this kinda nonsense, at least spell "cancer" correctly.

Iwata is fine, and he doesn't need to be "gone". If it wasn't for him, Nintendo arguably would not have had the kind of success they did with Wii and DS/3DS. That's about all that really needs to be said, as far as I'm concerned. One stumble does not destroy all past successes.

Personally I think they are doing great work. They are producing a LOT of great content and in a lot of different genres. It's amazing really. My two gripes are:
-I want another good RPG series. A Mistwalker title would be perfect.
-They NEED to do something to get more 3rd party support. Pay money, whatever, but Nintendo needs to get 2 or 3 key third party titles on the system. COD, AC and Batman, like in the first few years of Wii U, need to be there. Can you imagine if Nintendo showed all of their great content AND had those titles that were the cornerstone of the Sony and MS conferences available on their platform? It would be domination. Without them, however, there is still something lacking in content and variety - and hype from mainstream core gamers.

If it wasn't for him, the Wii U wouldn't be the worst selling major console in history. I don't care about his past successes. He's been doing worse than they have ever done for the past three years in a row, and he needs to go.
