The only thing that people care about is who sold the most overall not who was a head at certain points, especially when one console was released a year ahead of another. And beyond that you do realise that the PS3 is about to overtake the 360 in not only the number of million selling games but as well as that it's been gaining in overall software sales to point that both console's software sales will be almost the same when all is said and done.
Again? It's like the third time, lol.
Anyway, we knew the Xbox 360 was massively undertracked, so the numbers make a bit more sense now.

Um, completely incorrect. In fact the latest shipping numbers just further prove 360 is ahead.
Last Quarter (March end) MS said they shipped 800k 360. Sony doesn't break down PS4 and PS3, but they said they shipped 3.7 million PS3+PS4. We already know Sony sold about 3 million PS4 in those months from their announcements. So, PS3 sold 700,000 at most. Less than 360. Possibly even less than 700,000 if you give PS4 a little fudge factor to have some on shelves.
These are not my opinion folks, anybody can go look up these public records.
This on top of the respective announcements of 80 million sold for PS3 and 360, which proved 360 was ahead back in late 2013. Significantly ahead.
In contrast the only "evidence" PS3 was ahead came from some company called IDC that said PS3 was ahead, and provided no evidence or proof, and in fact would have no way of knowing, but that report was seized on and spread far and wide.
360 has never lost the lead and has outsold PS3 worldwide. The facts are there, people just dont want to admit.
The only reason this is even in question is when Sony started combining PS2 and PS3 ship numbers. And now PS3 and PS4. Which is because they have something to hide. Before then we knew 360 had outsold PS3. But once Sony combined the numbers, we couldn't know, so it gave people an opening to claim PS3 was ahead with no evidence, which is what happened.
Then we had the 80 million announcements that PROVED 360 is ahead, but (most) people ignored that because it doesn't fit their agenda.
The difference is so thin, let's just say it is a technical tie :)

Great that VGC made some huge adjustments, I still think they are, at a minimum, undertracking 360 with about half a million but these numbers are far more accurate.

Nope it's already be proven the PS4 sold less than 3 million in those 3 months so assuming the PS3 sold only 700,000 is incorrect. The truth is it's still too close to call and i can't wait to see who's alt. account i'm replying to as your 'agenda' is quite clear.
Too bad Sony started combining numbers to hide terrible handheld sales, or we'd know for a fact.
As it is, all we have is guesswork. For example, at least twice now the PS3 has been lauded here for passing the 360, and then MS/Sony reveal sales milestones and it turns out 360 is still ahead.
