Wasn't it official in this last quarter that combined shipments of PS3+4 were 3.7mn, hinting at PS3 shipments for that quarter of about 0.9 million while 360 shipped something like 1.1 million during the same quarter? I may be totally wrong but something like that comes to mind.

What's stopping VGchartz from undertracking the PS3 by 3 million?

Well, currently nothing stops VGChartz when we are talking about massive tracking mistakes. I'm starting to think I should create a site, use the official shipments, NPD, Media Create and whatever as basis and just guess the numbers until the official data corrects me.





Bet with jetforcejiminy: PS4 will pass the Wii lifetime numbers.

I still disagree. Sony had a perfect opportunity to have these games released on the PS4. Persona 5 on the PS4, for instance, would be a megaton and will give the PS4 a huge leg up on the X1 because the X1 lacks JRPGs. Sony contributes indirectly by not making these devs make games exclusively for the PS4.

Even if there is one million on the shelves that means its @ 83 which means that on a generous estimate vgc is 2.2 million off.

It's nice the 360 hit 84 million, it'll probably go on to sell over 90 million when all is said and done. Looking back at the numbers as of the end of March they had shipped 83.7 million so that means since then in 10 weeks worth of sales it only shipped 0.3 million which is pretty poor, it looks like this quarter it will only ship 0.4 million which will be the lowest it's ever shipped in a quarter.

I still think the crew at VGC are doing an amazing job at tracking console sales, it is just the sales of 360 that has annoyed me for more than a year for some reason :).

Sony doesn't have an opportunity since that's the third-party decision, not Sony. Hideo Baba, for example, said himself that he do not wish to go to Ps4 yet with Tales of saga.
