Forums - Movies & TV - Edge of Tomorrow has a 90 % on Rottentomatoes.com but still Bombed at the North American Box office. People Hating on him for his Religous beliefs is NOT cool!

From what i have seen in the trailers it is just the run of the mill Tom Cruise action film, mixed with Groundhog Day.
I really like Groundhog Day so the concept of repeating days is not something to turn me away from a movie, i've just never liked anything Tom Cruise has done.
To me it just seems like he always plays the same roles in these type of action films.

EDIT: forgot to mention i don't like his acting and he is also a lunatic for believing in scientology, all religion is bad but scientology is in a whole other league.

Such a fantastic movie.  Bill Murray ftw!

Hopefully people are finally getting tired of Tom Cruise. Dude's a whackjob.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Edge of Tomorrow failed because the marketing was pretty shitty until the last couple of weeks. Godzilla, on the other hand, had fantastic marketing and look at how well it opened to.

It may not have failed. It seems to be doing well world wide.

Maybe the critical reception will get people interested in this movie.

NA moviegoers have...special taste?

Honestly, no idea, haven't seen the movie yet, but looking at Oblivion which made $89 mils domestic vs $197 foreign, I guess it's not the kind of movie NA audience appreciates...which goes for Oblivion too, since it was much more appreciated in rest of the world.

I blame the marketing. I thought the film was fantastic.

It seems a lot of people aren't big fans of Tom Cruise, but I have to say that he's really good here. Pretty much perfect casting.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

If it was Cruise not sure how you explain Oblivion last year doing well.

To me most people just do not know about it or what it is about. It is going up against Spider-Man, Godzilla, X-Men and Maleficent which are all established properties. Feels like Elysium situation to me where a big name actor is not enough to carry a film when general audience are not sold on it. Sadly, it being good or not is not the most important aspect.

A few things... Not well marketed.. North American audiences seem only to want to see Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible movies.. (MI: Ghost Protocol did 200 million in NA)... All his others do under 100m.. here.. Edge of Tomorrow has already done 110 million outside of NA.. and will likely push over 250m.

And then.. well Scientology and jumping on Oprah's show.. That started the decline of Cruise for NA audiences it seems.. (Except in Mission Impossible movies) . lol The next MI will be the true test if that still holds true.
