Would be cool, but I'm not holding my breath.

OT: this is lame. This is the type of thing that could be revealed earlier instead of e3. Even pushmo would be a better reveal than this actually. Yet, its the type of thing that could work very sell to use the game pad, or like a app for smartphones. Make the level on the phone, but you will need 3ds/wiiu to play them.
"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

I'm surprised they haven't made something like this yet. Mario level makers have been floating around the internet for years, I think it could be a big hit.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
this is for real this time and what is it for ? probably 3DS...
awesome find superchunk!

That's the bigger thing that I personally took away from this image. An Animal Crossing game for WiiU would be very, very wise IMO.
Oh man, animal crossing can ruin some people's lives. Make it so you choose what type of town you start in and so you can visit friend's towns and purchase stuff from their shops not found in you type of town, and then AC zombies can pretend they have friends.
It's real, no one would have taken the time and energy required to make a believable E3 set-up, with posters etc. JUST for "Mario Maker", maybe for a bigger game, but that looks like an eShop game so theres no reason to take the fake this far.
@People mentioning Animal Crossing
Thats clearly the Villager from SSB4, not AC: U

If true and they do a good job of this, and allow you to create smb, smb2, smb3, smw levels, this will be the single best game and my most played game this gen. Sorry LBP but you're just mechanically not up to Mario's level nor do you have any nostalgia for me.
I can imagine this being a eshop download just for SMB1 levels and a SMB2 level editor coming later and so on.
To be honest I wanted them to do this the moment I saw that the Wii U had a touch screen. It seems like a no brainier way of capitalising on their old games and show the value of a touch screen. Maybe release a super metroid editor for the really committed level designers.

Do you really think they wait until the day before to put up everything? This is obviously like previous years and whomever took that photo was probably contractor hired to setup. We've had similar leaks in previous E3s. Usually with signs partially covered but you can still tell what it is. NSMBWii and U happened like that. |
i woul say this was made during a break by some contractor.
Good job Chunk. You are now one of the best insiders on the net. I suspect this is Nintendo's stab at Minecraft, and one of the games that shows off the Gamepad. Cool! Also, Animal Crossing U.
