so they are going to keep going on this unification of all devices approach..

..i don't have any particular love for apple but i guess that's going to be the only via platform for a while.

You should probably read Apple's WWDC info from today.  It looks like they are on the same path...

As long as the is for PC is Kent for those who use a mouse it sounds great

What exactly are the advantages of multiple desktops? Does it switch favoured settings when you switch desktop? (for example it would be useful for me to have a "browse" desktop and a "work" desktop where the former opens .jpgs/.png etc in Windows preview, but the latter opens them in Photoshop)

MS won't make two bad OS in a row.

Or two good ones in a row, for that matter.

god, fuck,.. please no.  what quinton said above me is the truth.  getting a window's 8 laptop was the most disappointing thing i could have done.  i didn't get a laptop because i wanted to have a shallow experience like when i'm on my tablet.  i got a laptop because i wanted a more feature rich interface then a tablet can provide.  that computer feels so nerfed and frustrating to use.

Everything is being unified. We will all be one. I am Halcon. God help us.

Not the greatest software project of history.

That's Steeve Grand's artificial thinking life.

The guy is pretty much living in a cave while completing it and started in 2006

This sounds like an impossibly big task. And it's supposed to be ready by April next year? Heh, I'll believe it when I see it.

Skip using the Metro interface and have it boot to the desktop.  If you do that, it's just like running windows 7, but faster!  Also, even if you don't like the Metro UI, you can still use some of the apps that work just fine.

im hoping for a rebound, 8 is the vista/millenium/2000 shit stone that MS has to step on to get it right. Im looking forward to win 9 with some hope.
