It had better top 4 million by year's end! Certainly will at this rate. I mean, who amongst the people picking up a WiiU in the next 3 months would not be picking up MK8 with it? Not many you'd think.

But out of that 35.5 million, MKWii sold 2.1 million aligned first week. (Just 6%) And MK was already established as a mega franchise by that point, almost 10 million on N64. Almost 7 million on GCN. Approaching 13 million on DS by that point. Wii was all about legs; we'll see if MK8 is at all similar.
I admit I expected at least a million from MK8 week 1. And I do think it will be more front loaded.

It's just nopt logical. User base does not go out the window because it does not matter what game you release, it will not have the same launch numbers as it would with 30-50 million. Now, this is where legs of a game come into play. A premier game should manage substantial lifetime sales regardless of when it was released in the consoles lifetime. that I will agree to. 

One thing to note is Mario Kart Wii was only 2 million in its launch week when combining the April 18th EU/ Japan launch and May 3rd US launch in which the console was at 25 million sales. MK Wii was released on a Monday in EU Jap and Tuesday in N.A which also provided several more days of sales. Do you not see how silly it sounds when you claim that 1.2 mill in 2-3 days on a console that has only sold 6 million units is not impressive? 

You can use Halo as an example of a mega franchise but while it has front loaded sales, it does not have the legs like the past few MK's and we cannot really even use it as an example because besides the original, there has not been a Halo released early in any Xbox's life cycle.

What's going to be more interesting are two things:

1) How many consoles have been sold by the end of June - we could be seeing the Wii U having an installed userbase of 7m at the end of June.

2) Whether Nintendo have finally realised that marketing a console and games works lol

If Nintendo had spent as much money advertising Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Wind Waker HD and Lego City Undercover there would be a LOT more consoles in homes by now.

because mk only had 3 days while wd had 5 plus 5 consoles

I mean im proud for watch dogs but its an unfair comparison that a game with 175 million install base against a game with only a 6.5 million(im guessing it has 6.9 million because of mk)

so i end in saying as i said earlier we dont know plus its sort of a unfair advantage especially with all the crude wii u was getting(untill mk8 of course)

But it wont lifetime :-/

No never said it would, considering Watch dogs is a new IP, still pretty impressove.
