If anything, a more diverse offering would attract a more diverse audience = more sales

EDIT: I gave away my first wii to my ex-gfs sister because it didn't have the kinds of games I wanted. I rebought one though for these games:

which are not really nintendo type games

It doesn't matter, the only people that could possibly complain is a parent that lets their kid have it despite a big red 18 being slapped on the box. otherwise you just don't buy it.
