I was wondering the same. The hate on Spain seems very strong not only here, but in the social media too.

It's called jealousy. Spain is usually really good. Today they were the complete opposite

If Chili wins, the Netherlands beats Australia (both very likely) and Spain and Chili draw, the Netherlands and Chili can just play for a draw in their last match to continue. Netherlands 7 points, Chili 5 and Spain 4.

When a team dominates for so long everyone hates that team.

Brazil is the team who most times has won a WC and never was so hated like this Spanish team. As a rival, i never hated Brazil, Germany, or France when they won WC 98 and Euro 2000. I admired those teams. They were historical....

I don't know.... When even spanish people here are happy to see Spain losing like this, what can I expect outside?. Spain seems to be an easy target to hate.

Personally, I don't hate Spain itself - I hate all the adulation towards them that I see around here. And I dislike their style of play - I thought that Germany, Netherlands or even Uruguay deserved to win the last WC more than Spain.

I guess is cause they have dominated football for a long time (2 Eurocups in a row, 1 WC, and a billion Champions in less than 6 years)
