Wow, pretty amazing that a guy who's interested in football doesn't follow his national team. But if I understand it right, it's cos of the endless disappointments.
This year Austria had a good team compared to 2008. But now it's gonna be tough to make the knockout phase.

It's disappointing results and disappointing play. They aren't fun to watch.
Yes, 2008 was embarrassing. There had been so many plans to field a good team by the time the Euro came around (they had at least six years to put things together), but in the end all the Austrian fan could hope for was that it didn't come to complete humiliation. The results weren't that bad (0-1 against Croatia via a penalty; 1-1 vs. Poland, although Austria's goal came via a penalty; 0-1 vs. Germany), but it was hopeless the entire time.
This time around a better team lost 0-2 vs. Hungary. It's typical for Austria.

Don't worry, we've failed to build a good team for our Euro as well I know how shitty it feels. But fortunately we have benefits 4 years later, so you never know, there's always hope. The thing that makes me laugh though, is that half of your team has names ending with -ić. There are move -ić players in Austria than Croatia I'm not sure if that's the best way to go about buildign a national team
I remember the slugfest that Poland-Austria was in 2008. We scored from an offside, while you scored from an absurd penalty that the ref pulled from his hat, as there was no foul there. We had no doubt that he was compensating you for missing the offside when we scored. A game and tournament to forget
